NASCAR Xfinity driver Jeremy Clements who had been relegated out of the playoff contention due to his penalties will now be able to return to the playoffs as his appeal was approved by the officials. The news was confirmed by prominent NASCAR journalist Bob Pockrass in a statement via Twitter. However, NASCAR fans did not seem to be too pleased with the news.

Pockrass stated, Jeremy Clements has won his appeal. His Daytona win will now count toward the playoffs and he has all his points back and the fines have been rescinded.

After scoring his victory, officials had initially decided to award him with a 75 points penalty from both the drivers and the owner standing as well as taking out 10 playoff points. That was all because of an intake manifold violation. Later on, the appeal board concluded that he in fact had not violated the exact stature by the rule book and all his penalties were taken back along with the  $60,000 fine awarded to his crew chief.

Fans were not very happy with the decision to revoke his penalty, many criticized the move and called it outright cheating.

Fans were surprised to learn that one can successfully win an appeal, in a sport that is notorious for losing appeals when it comes to illegal modifications.

Regardless of the average mood of fans around the Clements decision. He now will be able to remain under playoff consideration as his victory now remains valid and he sits in a comfortable spot above the cut-off line.
