During the ARCA Series race at the Michigan International Speedway, Frankie Muniz was in excellent form. The actor-turned-racing driver has been a picture of consistency in his rookie season. Barring Daytona, Elko, and Pocono, he finished every race within the Top 10, with a lowest finish of 9th. However, at Michigan, he went one better and stormed to a career-best 5th place for Rette Jones Racing.

An ecstatic Muniz mentioned after the race, “It really is way sweeter. A Top 5, I will take it, it’s like a win for me. The fact that, not to say I gave up because I clearly didn’t, but in your head you go, ‘No! I don’t even get to try’. The car was really good, my crew did such an amazing job. Taking their time to make sure everything was okay, fixing it. We just kept getting faster and faster, so I’m thrilled, beyond thrilled.”

Frankie Muniz has enjoyed a great campaign in the ARCA Series

As mentioned before, he was a consistent Top 10 finisher over the course of the season. Championship-wise, he lies in 2nd place in the standings, behind runaway leader, Jesse Love. This is actually very impressive, considering that Malcolm in the Middle Star has not reached Victory Lane yet. However, given the form that he is showing, a win couldn’t be very far away.

This ARCA season, all the rookies have been in excellent form. In fact, Muniz is the lead rookie driver in the championship, ahead of Andres Perez de Lara in 3rd. Also behind them are Christian Rose, Jon Garrett, and AJ Moyer on 4th, 5th, and 6th, respectively.

At the age of 37, the prospect of a potential Cup ride is extremely slim. However, there could be a chance to progress as far as the Truck or even Xfinity, especially in one-off appearances. Considering that NASCAR drivers compete until well into their 40s, the age of 30 is the new 20.

Now though, Frankie Muniz will be focused on trying to overhaul the points gap between himself and Jesse Love. Love currently has 563 points to Muniz’s 481 points, with nine races to go. The next race on the calendar is the Indianapolis Raceway Park. 37-year-old Muniz has not raced at the track before. However, he will be champing at the bit to go racing and improve upon his 5th-place finish.
