It’s not the end of the world when a competition’s official release has some inaccuracies in it, but when it’s openly challenged by a driver in public, things seem a bit messy on the surface. That is exactly what happened with the ARCA Menards Series when NASCAR Late Model driver Donovan Strauss publicly challenged an official report which stated that he would take part in the pre-race practice at Daytona a few weeks away.

Several big names will be taking part in the practice session. If the report is to be believed, the likes of Shane Van Gisbergen, William Sawalich, and Toni Breidinger will be taking part in the session. However, one man who will not be a part of it is the 2023 2023 INEX National Champion.

Donovan Strauss busted the ARCA Menards Series’ official release with a public statement on Twitter. The revelation was disheartening for fans who wanted to see him do what he does best, on one of the most iconic tracks in the country. However, that is now how things are going to turn out.

Strauss’ statement was short and to the point, without any complicated or cryptic messages. “No I am not testing an ARCA car at Daytona this weekend. Thank you,” he wrote on his X handle on Tuesday. It definitely made the ARCA Menards Series report look less credible.

According to the release, the Williams eSports driver was supposed to run a Fast Track Racing Toyota car at Daytona. He will, however, have a packed schedule in 2024. A few days ago, Strauss revealed that he would be driving full time for AK Performance with a select schedule in the NASCAR Advance Auto Weekly Series and the CARS Tour.

The Marietta resident had a fantastic campaign early in 2023 in the INEX series as he came out of it as champion. It will be difficult to top that performance, but the NASCAR Late Model driver will surely give it his all to do so.

The Citrus County Speedway hosted the final race of the INEX Pro division series in 2023. The race was won comfortably by Joel Smith and Donovan Strauss finished the race in P4. However, his points tally was enough to win him the championship. He had been in incredible form throughout the campaign, winning 3 races and finishing P4 two other times to take home the silverware.

“I can’t thank Keith, Johnny’s Pizza from Stockbridge, my mom, Josh Hicks for all the work he did on the car, my teammates, my family, my friends, everyone for supporting me – it’s all because of them. I had a purpose this week of winning. That’s all I had and I showed up,” he had said, as per an official INEX Series report, after his triumph.

This year, Strauss will be in the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series and in the Late Model division of the CARS Tour. Winning races will be a challenge given the level of competition in these campaigns. However, he is a former champion and has what it takes to consistently challenge for race wins.
