If racing was a dance, Brad Keselowski would undoubtedly sweep you off your feet at Talladega. As Keselowski throttles towards his most successful track, Chris Buescher, mentored by Keselowski, shrugs with a hesitant waltz. While Keselowski accelerates into Sunday’s Talladega race, looking to make NASCAR history, Buescher approaches with a bit of reluctance.

In a recent interview with Frontstretch, Chris Buescher opened up about his evolving perspective on superspeedway races, particularly in light of his mentor, Keselowski, joining their team. Buescher admitted that super speedways weren’t his preferred type of race track. Still, his attitude had shifted somewhat since Keselowski’s arrival. For Buescher, it’s less about the flair and more about the company, crediting Keselowski for recent successes.

The RFK Racing co-owner is on a tear and doesn’t plan to slam the brakes at Talladega. Leading all active drivers with six wins at the superspeedway, he’s only a win away from standing alone in second place on the all-time win list, rubbing elbows with legends. Those track statistics? They’re more than just numbers; they’re a promise of another riveting performance. But his teammate’s opinion about this track still varies.

When asked by FrontStretch, “Has your attitude towards super speedways changed since Brad joined the fold, because obviously the performance is a lot better.”

Chris Buescher replied, “Yeah, a little bit. I would say a couple things haven’t changed. They’re not really my favorite style of race track to go to. I do enjoy them. And I think I started enjoying them more now that we’ve been consistently good at them. We’ve really had RFK, really been good at speedways for a long time.”

Buescher highlighted the value of having Brad Keselowski as both a superspeedway driver and a teammate. He emphasized the trust and confidence they had in each other. Buescher pointed out that their recent success, like their one-two finish at Daytona, was largely thanks to Keselowski’s contribution. Buescher expressed their desire to replicate their success at Talladega, emphasizing their goal of getting to the front and controlling the race.

Brad’s breathtaking streak in the NASCAR Cup Series paints the picture of a champion. With a trail of top-10 finishes and a memory of narrowly missing the top spot at Daytona, Keselowski is a force to reckon with. But with echoes of past victories, can he steer his No. 6 RFK Racing Ford to the much-desired Victory Lane, or will memories remain just that?

“I see us having a great opportunity to win the race,” Keselowski told NASCAR.com in a Wednesday phone interview.

Peering through the rearview mirror, Keselowski’s journey reflects resilience. His transition to the Next-Gen car under RFK Racing in 2022 was not without challenges, but the tide seems to be turning. Sporting significantly better stats than the previous year, the racer finds himself at a crucial juncture. With Talladega offering unpredictable outcomes, will Keselowski’s calculated risks translate to record-breaking rewards?
