It’s undeniable that the present short-track racing package in NASCAR has received mixed reactions. A short while ago, ex-NASCAR driver Clint Bowyer expressed his dissatisfaction in a widely discussed rant. So, when a fan recently questioned Denny Hamlin about his recent comment on passing difficulties, the JGR driver offered a response, using Bowyer’s viral outburst as a reference.

The fan had asked Hamlin to clarify what he meant when he said, “we can’t pass” with the current package after the Martinville race. The fan was curious about the differences between passing in this car compared to what the situation was in the past.

The fan wrote on Twitter, “I wish, @dennyhamlin would go on w/Moody & explain what he means when he says “we can’t pass” w/this package. We all know its not supposed to be easy, but if you could tell the listening audience the difference between passing in this car, vs cars in the past, it would be great.”

To this, Hamlin responded, It’s not meant to be a literal statement. I’m saying the same thing that 6 of our top 10 finishers said. Same thing that @ClintBowyer just tweeted.”

“It’s something that I’m sure @NASCAR is having meetings on to discuss solutions. Trust me, they want their star drivers to shine, not just cars with track position. It won’t be a easy or quick fix but it can get better if we take a little risk.
