Corey Heim has been a fan favorite since his ARCA Menards days. Often referred to as a prodigy in NASCAR, Heim impressed everyone racking up 6 wins in the 2021 ARCA season, finishing 2nd, narrowly missing on the title. This was enough for him to get a full-time ride in the Truck Series.

And the same dominance has continued in the Truck. Finishing 2nd this year! That run from the back to second place in Phoenix is why everyone is a Heim fan. But none is bigger than this five-year-old who got the sweetest gift from Heim and Tricon Garage. And fans could not help but sing praise for the Georgia driver.

Mikey is the kind of fan every driver dreams of. A five-year-old with a huge heart and an even bigger love for racing. But Mikey’s story is more than just a love of NASCAR. He’s a brain cancer survivor and his favorite movie? Disney’s Cars, of course! And if you know that movie, you know Lightning McQueen is the obvious hero.

But Mikey wasn’t just inspired by the red race car in the movie. He was inspired to pick a real-life NASCAR driver to root for, and Corey Heim’s #11 stole his heart. His dad shared that Mikey, specifically, chose Heim’s red truck because it reminded him of Lightning McQueen. And it wasn’t just talk—Mikey dressed up as his favorite driver for Halloween.

He even had a custom walker shaped like the #11 truck so he could go trick-or-treating in style. Take a look:

Mikey’s battle wasn’t easy, but his spirit and love for racing kept him going—and that’s when Heim and Tricon Garage decided it was time to do something special. And recently they decided to surprise him. A package was delivered to him with what’s probably the cutest fire suit ever, along with a signed picture of Heim’s truck.

To make the deal even sweeter, Heim also had a video message for his young fans. He said, “What’s up Mikey? This is Corey. You are stronger and braver than anyone I know. From everyone at Tricon, we are cheering you on every step of the way.” 

Also, Mikey’s father revealed how the youngster’s convinced of becoming a racer when he grows up, “Mikey has been through so much in such a short life…he’s convinced he wants to be a race car driver when he gets older.” 

Maybe Tricon is where he ends up a few years down the road. Meanwhile, this heartfelt exchange has made fans go gaga.

Even Corey Heim cannot wait for Mikey to make his way into NASCAR. He commented on the video, “I can’t wait to have Mikey at the track.” Similarly, neither can a fan, who wrote, “That was very sweet!! Can’t wait to see u in that fire suit!! U GOT THIS MIKEY!!”

Heim’s a driver who’s already made the entire NASCAR community a fan of his racing prowess and is continuing that off-track as well. And fans in unison are chanting, “It’s Heim time!”

With this recent effort, he’s also got a new fan. Who wrote, “Corey Heim, you just became my new favorite driver. IT’S HEIM TIME.” Heim is staying back in the Truck series for another season and would take another shot at bagging that trophy. And the way the team has started the year on a positive by spreading happiness, one fan has a strengthened belief that “It’s always heim time 🔥” 

Truly, what is NASCAR without its fans, and what is NASCAR without memorable stories? And we agree with this fan when he said, “This is why we LOVE NASCAR!!!” 

It’s the kind of connection that makes NASCAR more than a sport, a community!

Recently, NASCAR gave homes to ‘Hurricane Helene’ survivors. This one fan put it perfectly, “Not a dry eye here. This is going above and beyond racing for someone as brave and deserving like nobody else. We all wish him a healthy recovery.”
