Recently, there was a fan study which focused on who were the most popular NASCAR drivers. What was interesting about the survey was that it blanketed all 50 states in the United States of America. Now, it has often been taken for granted, that Chase Elliott is the most popular NASCAR Cup driver. On the last count, at least 15 American states named Elliott as the most popular. Meanwhile, the latest count, bumps that number up to 16.

Surprisingly, no one else came close to rivalling him, with Kyle Larson and Bubba Wallace bagging five states each. Larson was a bit of a surprise, because the last count saw him named as the most popular driver in nine states. Wallace was unchanged, as were a few other drivers. Other drivers featured in the survey, were Ryan Blaney, Kyle Busch, Tyler Reddick, Ross Chastain, Christopher Bell, and more.

There was also a global NASCAR survey about the most popular drivers

A twist to the tale came when the survey decided to go global, and the results were fascinating. Elliott was the fan favorite in at least two countries. First and foremost, he was popular in Germany, which was unchanged from the last count. However, he usurped Kyle Busch in Brazil as the most popular NASCAR driver. No skin of Busch’s nose, as he has had conquests in Peru, South Africa, and even in India.

Several people also commented about Bubba Wallace, as they were surprised that certain states voted for him. Additionally, people were surprised that New Mexico voted for Denny Hamlin. It is also worth mentioning that last time out, Mexico had voted Brad Keselowski as their most popular driver, instead of home hero Daniel Suarez. Now, the country has corrected that little oversight, and Suarez is representing his nation.

Some people even noted that it was fairly sad that Colorado did not vote for Truex Jr. Back in his championship-winning season, he was voted as the Sportsperson of the Year in the state. One thing was for sure, it was a very interesting survey that recorded the NASCAR dynamic in America and the world.
