As the track is hosting the Cup Series after 27 years, the upcoming All-Star Race promises a lot for the fans. The organization has hit this one out of the park as the fan-favorite track has seen a massive revival project and the stage is set for an epic showdown.

Recently, 7-time Cup Series champ Jimmie Johnson posted a fascinating picture of himself back in the day, mentioning the iconic track. While the North Carolina track did host Truck Series races, the All-Star Cup race has the home crowd cheering after 27 years.

Ahead of the much-anticipated race at the track, the legend teased an image of his younger self on a dusty track.

Jimmie Johnson dives back in time as he reveals a backdrop to the iconic track back in action

Reminiscing the past, the legendary driver teased his fans as he posted a fascinating image of himself from 1993. With NASCAR events back to the fan-favorite track, Johnson thought of tingling some fans when he tweeted the image with an interesting caption.

From being almost abandoned to hosting the prestigious Cup Series again, the track has seen life in a full circle. It was back in 2019 when active discussions took place between Dale Earnhardt Jr and Speedway Motorsports CEO, Marcus Smith, as they plotted a brilliant vision to revive the 0.625-mile short track.

While Johnson took to his Twitter as he posted his former self in his former team, Herzog Motorsports, back in 1993 during a Truck Championship. The champ even drew a fascinating comparison when he confessed that he used to dream about being an Indycar driver. As the driver reflected on his long career, fans joined the merry and lauded the driver.

A lot can certainly change in 30 years. As the legend himself said, things have drastically changed for the bright side. Johnson is now a motorsports legend and the co-owner of Legacy Motor Club.

Fans shared their thoughts about the track getting back into action. Some even identified the old race suit as they recalled the then-prominent Herzog Motorsports. From 1987 until 2014, Herzog Motorsports competed successfully in a variety of racing series including off-road, NASCAR, ASA, and NHRA, and was instrumental in helping launch the career of  Jimmie Johnson.

One fan wrote, “Herzog was a great team.”

While another fan complimented the driver for his accomplishments, “It’s insane how late you started your career and how much you accomplished in a short amount of time compared to others”
