Fans are entitled to their opinions but every once in a while, an athlete comes along and proves them wrong in a big way. That’s exactly what Noah Gragson has done over the past couple of weekends in the NASCAR Cup Series. Several fans questioned Tony Stewart’s thinking behind signing a man who really had not achieved a lot in the Cup Series. The decision was ridiculed but it seems like the driver of the #10 car has made those doubters gulp down any further questions.
Noah Gragson has shut most of his doubters up this season already
Let’s face it, Stewart-Haas Racing is not a title contender anymore and they won’t be for some time given their form. But in these trying times, Gragson has been a ray of hope. This year, he has already finished in the top 10 four times. His career-best performance came at Talladega last weekend when he finished P3 and he followed it up with a P6 at Dover. It’s the first time in his career that he’s had a couple of back-to-back top-10 finishes and there are no signs of slowing down.

It was not easy for Noah Gragson to make his comeback. The once-brash racer seems to have matured quite a bit in his time away from the competition. There was a lot of noise around him joining SHR as several people looked at it like it was a mistake. And you could forgive them for thinking so. The 25-year-old never finished in the top 10 with LMC and the way he was suspended left a sour taste in people’s mouths.

But changing fans’ perceptions is how you become a great driver and Gragson is well on his way to do so. After the race, he was a proud man, and rightfully so.

It has taken a lot for the SHR star to be as consistent as he is this year. After his suspension by NASCAR and subsequent exit from Legacy Motor Club, not many people expected him to get a seat this soon. Not many people believed that he deserved it and some still probably feel that way. However, ever since finishing P9 at Daytona, Gragson has consistently delivered for Stewart-Haas Racing and Dover was just another chapter in his redemption story.

“Kind of up and down and fell back in the middle of the race, got lucky with the pit strategy where that caution flew during the green flag cycles. We ended up sixth here. If the roles were reversed, we were going to finish seventh at Texas when we came out on the final green-flag pit cycle. The favor returned. Overall, it’s great momentum and great confidence for this group. I’m extremely grateful to be part of it,” he said as per Jayski.
This season is gonna be important for Noah Gragson and Stewart-Haas Racing. Success has been hard to come by for both parties but it is endearing to see them work hard and achieve as much as they can. Will they win a race this year? We’ll have to wait and watch.
