In a surprising turn of events, it was announced that renowned American rapper, Machine Gun Kelly, will return to the adrenaline-filled realm of NASCAR. However, his comeback won’t take place on the asphalt but on the stage, during the race break at the Busch Clash at the LA Coliseum. Must be a sight to behold, right? Well, it’s hard to say, as MGK’s return revelation has raised a lot of eyebrows in the community.

It seems like the fans are more eagerly waiting for the roar of the engines rather than the songs of the Grammy-nominated star. In light of this, instead of getting an exhilarating response from the racing world, NASCAR came to the center stage to be bashed by the fans.

The LA Memorial Coliseum, where the Busch Light Clash will take place, is not only a racetrack but an arena for hosting the world’s biggest games, like the Summer Olympics. Additionally, the venue has a rich history of inviting world-famous personalities to grace the events. Notable invitees like Pitbull performed during the pre-race concert in 2022, followed by Ice Cube’s halftime show.

Moving to the next year, in 2023, Wiz Khalifa rocked the arena during his halftime performance, whereas Cypress Hill spiked the adrenaline rush moments before the race. Now fast forward to this year, Machine Gun Kelly will be performing during the race break. It’s not his first appearance in NASCAR, as he has attended races at the Fontana Speedway in 2019 and at the Charlotte Roval in 2022. However, it’s this time that his return has created ripples of displeasure in the community. But why are fans angry?

As it happened, during the Formula 1 Brazilian Grand Prix, in November 2023, MGK had a somewhat weird grid-walk interview. Following the interaction, he went home without watching the complete race and posted a message on social media. “My vibe is ‘the worst’ how? Because someone put a microphone in my face essentially forcing me to do a random interview when I was just trying to enjoy an event?” Naturally MGK’s submission did not go well with the motorsport fanbase.

Fresh from a controversial past, MGK’s return to the motorsport world was announced by NASCAR insider Jeff Gluck, as he unraveled the news on X, and wrote, “MGK returns to NASCAR.

@machinegunkelly will do the halftime break concert for the Clash next month. He has attended races at Fontana and Charlotte in the past.”

However, little did Gluck know about the backlash his post was about to receive from the fans

One fan took a sarcastic jibe at NASCAR and wrote, “how did they manage to find the one person everybody hates? this is actually impressive”

People even drew parallels with Wiz Khalifa’s 2023 performance and commented, “Absolute bum. Atleast we got wiz last year who is actually good.”

This fan gave his unfiltered verdict and penned down, “Guess I’ll turn it off then. May not watch it anyway. Not a fan of the clash right now. Move it back to Daytona.”
