It was a clinical win for Chris Buescher, to say the least. The Ford Performance, which had been limping for the majority of the regular season, was finally able to fly high. The Blue Oval can surely thank Brad Keselowski’s team RFK Racing and their teammate Chris Buescher. The two-driver team was able to surge to the top of the leaderboard and score three victories out of the last five races.

With 22 lead changes and 17 different leaders, it was only Chris Buescher who was able to hold off on his position. The RFK Racing drivers in a nail-biting effort and help from their fellow Ford driver Aric Almirola, settled for 1-2 positions in the race. Owing to this, NASCAR veteran, Kyle Petty, made a shocking comparison with Buescher in the mix.

Kyle Larson & HMS Are Planning to Return to Indy 500 Next Year. But Should They?

Yes! It Is Great for NASCAR

No, It Was a Disaster This Time

Before the 2023 Cup Series season, Chris Buescher had only two victories to his name and had a long road to traverse before contending for the championship contention. A similar narrative echoed earlier in the season as well. However. Chris Buescher made sure that he was the writer of his own fate and no one else. The driver, accordingly, notched his first victory of the season at Richmond.

The victory turned out to be the turning point for both Buescher and his RFK Racing, still in its nascent state. The driver steadily scored his second consecutive victory at Michigan and finally his superspeedway victory at Daytona. The Ford driver was able to prevail over time and take the chequered only to carve his name as a championship contender. The other fellow drivers, the likes of Chase Elliott and Alex Bowman failed to out-duel Buescher and seize the playoff seat.

Nevertheless, after witnessing such an impeccable performance, and leaving the NASCAR world dumbfounded, former Cup Series champion Kyle Petty made a shocking comparison on the latest episode of NASCAR on NBC.

Conversing on Buescher and Keselowski’s partnership with host Nate Ryan, Petty stated, “I felt in those final laps, from the time they pushed Buescher to the front, from the time Brad-Buescher hooked up.”

“In my mind, they took control. They took control of the race and at that moment on everyone else reacted to them. No one made a move, no one made a counter, no one did anything. They reacted to what Chris and what Brad did. I am gonna go back in time reminiscing of when everybody used to race against Earnhardt and think that he could see the air.”

So everybody reacted to where Earnhardt was. Nobody tried to do anything different, you reacted so it made it look like, he was here and everybody else was here. Last night, that’s what it looked like. They were here and everybody else was reacting,” Petty asserted.

Furthermore, the NASCAR analyst doesn’t fail to acknowledge RFK Racing’s co-owner Brad Keselowski’s contribution to the development of the team and also propelling his teammates to victories. This was apparent in Saturday’s race at Daytona. The 2012 Cup Series champion had the opportunity to outlast his teammate, but he chose to remain faithful.

On account of this, Kyle Petty asserted in the podcast, “Brad is an incredible race car driver. He was meant to be an owner. Because he sees a bigger picture. He sees a broader landscape, and he sees the nuances in that landscape. He sees where he can take advantage of this or take advantage of that.”

“And Brad believes in Chris Buescher and that goes a long way.”
