For a whopping 44 years, Busch Light has been a big fish in the NASCAR pond, lending its support to everything from the Busch Pole Award to the Busch Light Clash. They’ve even rubbed shoulders with NASCAR’s bigwig, Kevin Harvick. But as they waved goodbye to their partnership with Harvick last year, they’re not slowing down. Instead, the company is moving gears to sponsor Ross Chastain, the ace behind the #1 Chevy, and teaming up with Trackhouse Racing, to make a splash in the NASCAR Cup Series.
Just recently, the curtain was lifted on the new look of the car. And while having a chinwag with the producer, Ross Chastain let the cat out of the bag about his upbringing and why having Busch Light in his corner means the world to him.

Ross Chastain shares some heartwarming tidbits about his childhood
Back in the day, Kevin Harvick really took NASCAR’s feeder system by storm, sweeping through both the Cup and Busch series in 2001, and then doing it all over again in 2006. But around 2016, the tide seemed to turn a bit, with the focus shifting from supporting the entire series to backing individual drivers, and who better to bet on than Harvick himself? That was a game-changer.
Jumping on to 2023, when Busch Light chose to back Ross Chastain, the watermelon farmer turned racer, it marked a first for him – his very own main sponsor for a NASCAR Cup Series car, a team that joined forces specifically to support him. Before he’d had sponsors, sure, but they were more about the teams he raced for, not him personally.
His path is unlike any other driver.

When the producer quizzed Chastain about his readiness, he opened up, “I am. So my dad didn’t make working at the farm a chore, it was a reward. You just don’t know what the next day is going to bring to the farm, and that’s how I go about my career and ask. I just get up earlier than I want to most days and do good work. We don’t have enough time to talk about what all my family’s done. There’s no way around the fact that every driver in NASCAR has to have sponsors. You have to have some eye to pay for racing.”
He went on, “And early on, no one knew me except my family and the Ag industry, so through getting fired from race teams, situations not working out. They’re always there. Getting to now represent this brand, it’s unknown how much we can do in the sport together. We’re gonna do it with a great group here at Trackhouse and we get to do it together. I’m not sure that I can fully comprehend what it’s going to be like pulling on track at the Busch Light class in the Busch Light car.”
And now, having gotten a sneak peek of his new paint scheme, Chastain’s apparently is over the moon and raring to go.

NASCAR’s former watermelon farmer recently opened up about the spiffy new paint job on his car
Busch Light, a big name from Anheuser-Busch, will be splashed across his car for a whopping 18 races – that’s half the season, folks – all thanks to a multi-year deal. We all know how much Busch Light adores farmers; they’ve got those cool cans with corn designs every year. And now, with Chastain at the wheel, it wouldn’t be surprising if someday everyone would be sipping on some watermelon-flavored brew soon.
Speaking of the car, Chastain was over the moon. “To see the Busch Light colors and logo on my car is truly special. When I first saw the paint scheme, I was blown away. For me and the entire team at Trackhouse Racing, it’s a dream come true and an honor to be racing in Busch Light’s classic blues and whites.”

Chastain, brimming with pride, also shared, “This sponsorship means so much to me as the brand not only supports NASCAR but also places value and extends their support to communities that are close to my heart — the humble, hard-working people across the U.S. who enjoy cracking a cold one after an honest day’s work.”

Sure, the car looks a bit like Kevin Harvick’s, and the suit too. But down on the farm in Alva, Florida, Busch Light has always been the go-to brew for any celebration. And now, having them as Chastain’s sponsors? It’s definitely very much like hitting the jackpot for Ross Chastain!
