Bass Pro Shops Night Race’s anti-climatic end certainly wasn’t what the packed crowd at the Bristol Motor Speedway was expecting. They protested furiously, booing as the race winner and NASCAR’s controversialist collected the checkered flag from a fan to start his championship rant.
Puffed up with pride, the Joe Gibbs Racing veteran, Denny Hamlin called the shots, roasting the booing fans with an epic counter. While the community was awaiting HMS’ Kyle Larson at the victory lane, they did anticipate such a climax even in their dreams.
Disappointed at their favorite driver’s missed opportunity & veteran’s late rally, fans did not let go of his provocative rant as they called him out online to bash him.

Denny Hamlin’s insult adds fuel to the fire following his landslide win in Bristol
Despite having dominant cars in Darlington and Kansas, Joe Gibbs Racing sensation, Denny Hamlin had to wait till the playoff elimination race at the Bristol Motor Speedway to claim the throne. Following the obvious pattern of this year, Hamlin, who outclassed his friend/rival Kyle Larson to take the sword, was greeted with a swarm of boos.
While the 42-year-old acknowledged how his Fed-Ex team backed him up with a top-notch race car, Hamlin, being Hamlin, simply shrugged off the boobirds and instead threw a stiff one at the hostile crowd.
Starting his rant he said, “It’s our year, I just feel like we got it all put together, we got the speed every single type of race track, and nothing to stop us at this point.”
When asked about the booing crowd, the driver returned fire, roasting the crowd, saying, “I beat your favorite driver… all of them.” The driver then continued to his #11 Toyota to put the checkered flag after he earned his 51st career win in the most dramatic way, rubbing salt into the crowd’s wounds.
The driver continued his glorification on his social media where he encountered a wave of fans who returned him the favor as they slammed him, reminding the driver about his past demons. Hitting exactly where it hurts the most, one riled-up enthusiast mentioned Hamlin’s history of choking up in the championship round, saying, “You’ve choked more than anyone in the history of NASCAR.”

One compliment/insult that has haunted Hamlin every year is that “he is the best driver to never win a championship.” Despite being in the sport for close to 19 years after arriving on the scene back in 2004, the 42-year-old is yet to claim his first-ever title.
While his victory in Bristol marked his 3rd win of the season and his 51st career win, the veteran’s smug response to the hostile crowd’s boos made the driver a target of many nay-sayers. Following his grand win over the HMS driver Kyle Larson, Hamlin put out a proud tweet once again, saying, “It’s our year.”
However, this time fans saw the opportunity for a counter hook. They hit the driver where it hurts the most, calling him out for choking at the very last moment.
