The next NASCAR Cup Series race, Grant Park 220, is just around the corner. Among the excitement of fans about the upcoming race, a bomb of confusion was dropped on Twitter by Bob Pockrass. Bob Pockrass, the NASCAR reporter, recently shared an image of the Chicago street course, which was being prepared for the upcoming race. But the image had something that many people find unusual.
The unusualness of that “special appearance” on the Chicago street course confused many people. And that confusion led them to start the game of “let’s guess!”
Fans made some unique and hilarious guesses, most of which revolved around the appearance of turtles. Not the regular ones, but special turtles. We’ll come on that later, but first, what is the unusual thing on the track?

What’s the Unusual Thing That Appeared on Chicago Street Course Before the Grant Park 220?
On his Twitter account, Bob Pockrass shared an image of the Chicago track with the caption, “There are a few of these on the course….” If you look at the image carefully, the thing that many people found unusual wasn’t really unusual. The special appearance wasn’t anything special but a normal manhole cover. It’s installed on multiple spots throughout the racing tracks and used for draining water from the track.

But since the cars directly go over these manholes, the covers are required to be properly installed. If manhole covers aren’t fixed well into their place, the low air pressure underneath the cars will loosen the covers, and eventually, they will come out. And when that happens, just a single manhole can create a disaster on the track.

Coming to the image that Bob shared, many didn’t want to identify the manhole cover, which led them to make some really witty guesses. Unsurprisingly, we got to see many Ninja Turtles fans as well in the comment section.

The manhole isn’t just the manhole, but also the escape route for Ninja Turtles. There were so many fans that compared the manhole cover with the one that Ninja turtles used to escape from danger. One such ninja-turtle fan said, “Ninja turtles will be making an appearance?” As it turns out, they can’t make an appearance, actually. The covers are welded well.
did you check for turtles? the ninja ones, not road course.

A fan who imagined the same shared how the turtles would feel watching the cars. He said, “Ninja turtles are gonna get really annoyed with the cars going over them.” The drivers would be equally annoyed by them. Who knows, maybe the turtles will get excited and start racing with the drivers.
But if that happens, Bubba Wallace won’t risk wrecking the turtles, will he? Talking about Wallace, a fan said, “Ooh, a tweet from Bob that’s not about Bubba!!!” Another fan who was tired of all the wittiness said, “Not sure why these keep getting brought up. Like any street course around the world, they’re welded down.”
