Last weekend at the World Wide Technology Raceway, Carson Hocevar got injured in a scary wreck. It started off with a fairly standard spin, without touching the walls. However, things changed when a couple of trucks slammed into him and the poor driver got pinballed around. Now, the team has recruited Daniel Suarez as a backup driver, in the event that Hocevar is declared unfit for the race at the Sonoma Raceway.

The 19-year-old is currently recovering from an ankle injury sustained in the last lap crash. He said, “I’m feeling better every day and I’m looking forward to being behind the wheel of the No. 42 Worldwide Express Chevrolet this weekend. I’m thankful for Daniel’s willingness to step up this weekend for our No. 42 team. None of this is possible without the great partnership Niece Motorsports has formed with Worldwide Express and Trackhouse Racing.”

The Niece Motorsports team were quite thrilled that Suarez was willing to get behind the wheel. At the same time, they are also happy with Hocevar’s progress with the Truck outfit. Additionally, Trackhouse Racing’s Justin Marks admitted that he is a big admirer of the 19-year-old Carson.

Marks also acknowledged the relationship between the Truck team and their own driver Ross Chastain. This is because Chastain has driven for the organization since 2018, picking up four wins. Additionally, both Niece Motorsports and Trackhouse Racing have a shared sponsor, namely Worldwide Express. Hopefully, Carson Hocevar recovers quickly and is back in the saddle.

Of course, an ankle injury is not something that can be fixed quickly. However, the #42 driver will be hoping that it heals enough to let him race this weekend at Sonoma. In any case, Mexican driver Daniel Suarez is more than ready to don the helmet.
