Denny Hamlin attracted a lot of outrage and anger from many fans after he made his Super Bowl prediction. The 23XI Racing co-owner had claimed it’d be the Eagles who would beat the Chiefs.
Now, of course, many people would’ve had that same prediction, but what got “the public” infuriated with Hamlin’s prediction was his reason for picking the Eagles.
“I think the Eagles got the easiest route to the Super Bowl of any team out there,” Hamlin said of the Philadelphia Eagles. “Kansas City, everybody’s in the world like Kansas City. I believe that the public is dumb.”

Denny Hamlin re-calibrates his stance on his prediction
In a recent episode of his podcast show, Denny Hamlin clarified his stance and what he actually meant by his “the public is dumb” remark and his prediction for the Super Bowl, which he considered to be “an awesome game.”
“I do want to clear something up for the people. I said I was backing the Eagles; I said that based off of the fact that I assume the public would be on Kansas City. That was wrong,” Hamlin described. “The public was on the Eagles.”

The #11 driver further added that before the game, he looked at the stats and the matchups, which gave him a better understanding of the picture in reality and what appeared on paper.
“Eagles were better on paper, no question. But I just like Patrick Mahomes’ experience on that stage and so I took Kansas City,” Hamlin continued.

Hamlin responded to a fan who trolled him for his Super Bowl prediction
Given the fact that the Chiefs won the Super Bowl against Hamlin’s prediction and that he had called the public dumb, the driver got trolled by a fan on Twitter.
“If the public is dumb for thinking the chiefs were going to win, then what does that make Denny Hamlin?” read the fan’s comment.
I read the script. Took KC 1 hour before game time. That equals cash. (Public took Philly NOT Kc) https://t.co/wx8MQgOBHl

But this wasn’t over yet, as the Joe Gibbs Racing driver had a response with which he attempted to have the last word.
