This Wednesday, the NFL rolled out its 2024 schedule, and it looks like there’s going to be a bit of a clash with some NASCAR Cup races. The common fans of NASCAR and the NFL might need to mark their calendars: on September 8, while the Pittsburgh Steelers square off against the Atlanta Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, NASCAR will be revving up for the Quaker State 400 presented by Walmart just a stone’s throw away at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.
The scheduling conflicts don’t stop there:
– NASCAR’s Go Bowling at the Glen at Watkins Glen is all set for September 15, just three days after the NFL’s Buffalo Bills take on the Miami Dolphins.
– Fast forward to September 29, and NASCAR will be hitting the track in Kansas while the Kansas City Chiefs face the Los Angeles Chargers.
– On October 6, the NASCAR circuit heats up with the YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. Just two days prior, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will face off against the Atlanta Falcons, adding some gridiron tension to the mix.
-The overlap continues on October 13, with NASCAR’s Bank of America ROVAL 400 revving up at Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course, the same day the Atlanta Falcons clash with the Carolina Panthers.
–Then, on October 20, the South Point 400 will scorch the tracks at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, going head-to-head with a Las Vegas Raiders vs. Los Angeles Rams game, which kicks off at 4:05 p.m. on CBS.
-The following weekend, on October 27, as the NASCAR Cup Series playoff race unfolds at Homestead-Miami, football fans will watch the Arizona Cardinals take on the Miami Dolphins.
-As we head into November, NASCAR’s XFINITY 500 at Martinsville Speedway and the NASCAR Cup Series Championship at Phoenix Raceway are set to go head-to-head with NFL games featuring the New Orleans Saints at the Carolina Panthers and the New York Jets at the Arizona Cardinals, respectively.

Even fans have quite a few views about the clash and were intrigued, “Was this intentional by the NFL?“ Another suspicious fan also shared, “Ok, home teams playing when nascar races at their track is kinda suspicious not gonna lie.”
This broadcast jumble means die-hard fans of both sports might need up to eight different subscriptions to keep up. And well, that could run a pretty penny, but that’s the price for access to every thrilling moment across channels.
Given the simultaneous events, fans might find their attention split between speeding cars and touchdown drives. And with events scattered across different cities, online streaming remains the go-to solution for most.

For those leaning towards NASCAR, here’s a quirky fact to chew on: Did you know you could attend twenty-three races for the price of one Super Bowl ticket on the secondary market? While getting a cheaper Super Bowl ticket might save some cash, true road warriors will still need to budget for travel, food, merchandise, and more. But hey, if you’re already shelling out $10,000 for a Super Bowl ticket, what’s a little extra for a season of speed?
However, just like a fan said, “Bob, I’m going to hit traffic going to the Championship Race“ having a race and an NFL match on the same day at the same place, is definitely going to cause a bit of chaos.
