Dale Earnhardt Jr.‘s interests can have a really wide range. In the domain of NASCAR alone, he has gone from competing for titles to creating tourneys like the CARS Tour and contributing to renovating iconic tracks like North Wilkesboro. Another one of his significant admirations has been the NFL team, the Washington Commanders.
Junior has never been shy about professing his love for the Commanders and has done so again on the latest episode of his podcast, The Dale Jr. Download. One of his major concerns as a fan has been the long wait for the regular season of American football to start.

The Washington Commanders do have some relationships with NASCAR personalities. The legendary Joe Gibbs is a former coach of the team, leading them from 1981 to 1992 and then coming back after a hiatus to coach them again from 2004 to 2007. Although it remains a thing of the past now, the fans of the team that was formerly known as the Washington Redskins will have fond memories of him, who took them to three Super Bowl victories and four NFC championships.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. has followed in the footsteps of Gibbs and sworn his loyalty to the Commanders as well. With the ongoing preseason matches, Junior has been gearing up for the return of the nation’s premier tournament. They kick off their season on September 10th, facing off against the Arizona Cardinals, but the two-time Xfinity winner feels like it is too long of a wait for an ardent fan like him.
“NFL’s cranking back up. I’m a big Commanders fan. I had the first preseason game. I caught a couple of players, not the entire game but that was fun to be able to watch some football. Seems like football takes forever to get started. And off-season in NFL just feels like it’s a long long off-season.” says Dale Earnhardt Jr.
He also seems to take interest in the fancy football initiative which has been incorporated into almost every sport and league that has been recognized globally as he explains, “So that’s exciting if you’re an NFL fan, you’re probably as excited as I am by that kicking back up. Can’t wait for fancy football and all those things.”
Looks like Junior can’t lock up his enthusiasm about the upcoming NFL season at all.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. has a net worth of around $400 million, which is an astounding amount. Considering that, one would agree that if given a chance to get some share of ownership in the Commanders, Junior would grab the opportunity at the sight of it. But to everyone’s surprise, that is not the case. Last year, appearing as a guest on the Dan Patrick Show, Patrick denied any interest in being a shareholder in his beloved team.
“I don’t have that kind of money, this is billions of dollars.”, he said. Ruling out any hopes of him trying for a minor fraction of ownership in the team, he explained that he wouldn’t want that at all.
“I don’t know what I would get out of that, I love being a fan. I want to be in the stands with all the other fans, I want to wear the merch. And I wanna be mad when they lose, and I want to cheer when they win. I want to go do that. I don’t want to be in the owner’s box.”

His love for the team may not know any bounds, but being a fanboy is what he wants to limit himself at. One could also say that being an owner would bring a whole new perspective of responsibilities for him, but we have seen him manage that perfectly at JR Motorsports.
