Dale Earnhardt Jr needs no introduction. Every NASCAR fan, young and old, will agree that the Hall of Famer is and will be a fan favorite, even though he retired from the sport in 2017. But that is not the only feather on his cap these days. From writing books to hosting podcasts, you name it, and surely Earnhardt Jr will have done it before you! Recently, the JRM team owner added a new feather to his cap. And this new feather ended up taking him to the Big Apple.

Dale Earnhardt Jr talks about his love-hate relationship with the Big Apple

Nothing makes Earnhardt Jr more “grumpy” than when the Big Apple decides to call. Remember your favorite player who infuriates you in a game or two and you vow to never watch their game again, but still can’t ignore them whenever their game is on? Well, it’s the same for Earnhardt Jr and New York it seems.

On an episode of his podcast, The Dale Jr Download, the 48-year-old quipped about his recent work trip to NYC. He admitted how he dreaded going on the trip.

“I will admit this. I do not like planning. I do not like learning that I am going to New York and I do not want to go. So, when there is a New York trip placed on my counter, I’m grumpy about that – I do not want to go,” said Dale.

However, revealing a bit more about the love-hate relationship he has with NYC, Dale revealed it’s not all bad blood after all. He talked about how he actually ended up having fun.

“I will say that I get there and I have a great time. I really do! And, every time! And there’s a lot of things in life that I do that about, right? You’re like man, I don’t wanna do that! Aw man that’s here! Oh, that’s tomorrow! Grrr I don’t want to do that, and then you go and you have a great time! Happens all the timem” Dale said.

While he was in the city for the release of the latest installment of his book, ‘Buster gets back on track’, Dale also had an unexpected collaboration.

Despite his initial aversion to the trip, Dale did end up having some good ol’ fun. While promoting his book in the city, the NASCAR veteran apparently had a great time with former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning. Though they both were a pair fans least expected to see together, they looked like old friends meeting up after a long time. Dale even took to Instagram to share a Reel with the former quarterback.

Earnhardt Jr only had good things to say about his hangout session with Manning.

“Went to New York, hit the ground and went to where the Giants play, to their practice facility. I did, I guess, it’s a video show-podcast kinda thing, with Eli Manning! The Eli Manning show, he does this about 8-10 times a year. Funny dude! We’ve seen him plenty of times, right, over the years in commercials and all kinds of stuff, The Manning cast and all that! He’s hilarious! Had a lot of fun! Rode with him over to a bookstore, walked around, had to, you know, film some stuff in a bookstore with The Buster book, right! That was great!” Dale revealed.
