Home/NASCAR

Widely recognized as a trailblazer for women in motorsports, Danica Patrick was always seen as much more than a driver on the racetrack. While her performances in NASCAR ultimately flattered to deceive, it was her off-the-track persona that really made her a role model for any aspiring female athlete. Toward the end of her career, Patrick started dating NFL Superstar Aaron Rodgers in a high-profile relationship.

The relationship did not mean that she would shift allegiances in one respect though – monikers, where she would continue to be in the corner of New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez.

During a segment on The Rich Eisen Show in 2019, Patrick was asked about ‘A-Rod’ being the first guest on her newly launched podcast, Pretty Intense, which dropped earlier that week.

Unsurprisingly, Patrick made sure the audience knew who the guest was, stating, “Yes yes that A-Rod. There are kind of two but I actually really don’t think of my A-Rod as A-Rod at all. There are some people that do call him A-Rod, that are basically like friends forever. But I don’t; I think Alex Rodriguez as A-Rod, I just don’t think of Aaron as A-Rod.”

Fans seemed pretty sure that Rodgers had something ‘Pretty Intense’ to say about that once Patrick got home.

Danica Patrick was in awe of Rodriguez’ multi-dimensional success

In a different segment, Patrick spoke about how she was blown away by Rodriguez as a businessman. Sharing her insights from the episode on her podcast, she said, “He’s been investing since he got into baseball since he was, you know, 20 years old. So he’s just a real numbers guy and I’m intrigued by that because I’m not a numbers girl, like I have brain meltdown as soon as people start to do 1+3.

The NASCAR driver further complimented the Shark Tank judge on his mindset and the drive to succeed in different fields other than sports and not being a one-dimensional personality. Patrick clearly knew what she was talking about, the Yankees star’s sprawling business empire and a $350 Million net worth to show for it.

Pretty Intense has come a long way since its inception, with the podcast now serving as a medium for Patrick to motivate, educate and inspire people who have a dream and limited means to achieve them. Clearly, Danica Patrick seeks to become much more than someone who others just try to emulate; she wants to hand her audience the means to empower themselves.
