Of course, everyone has their own views on whether or not racecar drivers are Athletes . Some NFL players believe driving isn’t a sport. On the other hand, others firmly believe it definitely is a sport. But the newly crowned two-time Cup Series Champion, Joey Logano just ended the entire debate.
He completely redefined the term “Athlete” as he disagreed with Bubba Wallace.

In a recent episode of Stacking Pennies with Corey LaJoie, Logano talked about the same thing.
He was asked, “Are NASCAR drivers, athletes?”
To which he replied with a great analogy, “Yes, we are athletes. But in a completely different way. It’s the same, right? I can pick up a basketball, and you guys know I can pick up the ball and I’ll shoot it. But it doesn’t mean I can play basketball worth a crap, right?”
He added, “And the same thing. They can probably drive themselves to this, to the Stadium, to play. But it doesn’t mean that they can drive a car at the same level that we do. So it’s different.”
But he didn’t stop there, because there is something that connects the two which makes them Athletes. And that is, “That ability to handle pressure, right? The ability to compete in a high, highly intense form. And trying to bring more to the table all the time like that to me, an athlete is the same. Whether you’re competing. In the NBA, the NFL, and NASCAR.”

However, he disagreed with Wallace later, as he gave a new definition.

Now, if a race car driver is just as much of an Athlete, then what really makes a player one? How it NASCAR driver a sportsman?

Well, he did answer that, as he declared golfers to be athletes too, “Golf, right? I believe golfers are athletes, too. Or maybe your heart rate might not be going through their moon and different things like that. But they have to perform under extreme conditions. In a competitive environment. To me, that’s what defines an athlete.”
This is very different from what Bubba has to say, because he doesn’t think golfers are actually Athletes.
