Last year marked the first time the father-son duo graced the Lucas Oil Tulsa Shootout together, and the younger Busch left an indelible mark. At a tender age, Brexton displayed skills that many grown-ups could only dream of. He not only participated but excelled in the event. He won the C-Main and impressively charged from 13th place to finish fourth in the B-Main. However, what truly set Brexton apart was his humility and respect for the racing process.
In a display of maturity well beyond his years, Brexton declined an invitation to race in the A-Main, a move that garnered widespread appreciation. He later expressed, “What an awesome time running in my first ever @TulsaShootout!! Won my C-Main & drove from 13th to 4th in B-Main. The Shootout promoters extended me a provisional invite to run the A-Main, but I politely declined, and will return next year to race my way in!” This decision resonated with racing enthusiasts and professionals alike.

American media personality Bobby Gerould applauded the young driver, saying, “Love it that you declined. That shows a humility and respect for racing that I wish more had! Congratulations on a job well done!” Matt Henderson, the 2021 CRUSA World Champion, also recognized Brexton’s commitment, noting, “Absolutely. Respects the process. His dad is a no-excuses kind of driver, and it looks like he’s raising one too.”
This year, Brexton Busch has his sights set on the Tulsa Shootout once again. He will enter the Restricted A-Class and also the Junior Sprints. Racing fans eagerly await his performance, as he continues to showcase his incredible talent, sportsmanship, and also a strong sense of racing values instilled in him by his racing champion father.
