Dale Earnhardt Jr. expresses pure emotion after Josh Berry wins NASCAR race
However, this is his biggest win, and Dale Jr. was absolutely over the moon. “I’ve never cried like I cried today over racing…I just wanted it so bad for Josh,” Dale Jr. said in a post-race media interaction.
With 29 laps to go, Berry took the lead from youngster Ty Gibbs and held his nerve thereafter. Dale Jr. revealed that he hasn’t been so nervous before, not even when he himself or his father raced in the past in such tense situations.
“My heart was beating so fast. I’ve never felt that way … not when I raced or when my dad raced. … I peaked around the corner when he got the white,” he added.

The former superstar driver explained that one tends to look at a race win a lot differently as a team owner than as a driver themselves. As a driver, he had to quickly turn up for the next race and do it all over again.
However, as an owner, it is the ‘big picture’ and the success of the entire organization that he needs to look at.
“I could see Josh’s whole career in front of me and how he got to this moment. There’s a lot of emotion involved,” Dale Jr. expressed further.
