Since finishing 1-2 at Daytona last week, RFK Racing, along with the Keselowski-Buescher duo, has been shouldering a lot of expectations. Although Michael McDowell’s Ford had shown significant speed back in Watkins Glen, he has not been able to stand out since his playoff-spot winning run at IMS. The spotlight is now firmly on Keselowski and his team.

And they started their opening playoff race with great momentum. Brad Keselowski made a few mistakes here and there, but ultimately both he and his driver made commendable top-10 finishes. However, Chris Buescher felt like he needed to do more in order to hit the jackpot.

Despite being happy with his team, the #17 Ford sensation felt like he had not done enough

Before even strapping himself up to his Mustang, Buescher knew that among the three races in the round of 16s, Darlington would be the most difficult one. Interestingly, when a driver makes a top-3 finish in a so-called difficult race, fans can only wonder how splendidly he will perform on a track that he is comfortable with.

Despite a fiery pit stop, the RFK driver did not flinch and kept his car running at full throttle. That just goes to show the level of determination and zeal in this 30-year-old speedster. In a conversation with Frontstretch, Chris Buescher revealed what kept him frustratingly close to leader Kyle Larson and runner-up Tyler Reddick and still, not get him his cherished win.

Buescher said, “Very good night for Ford Mustangs. Both of our cars were very fast and we’re gonna need a little bit more of it and fight for that win but watched it unfold for me.”

The Prosper native stated that despite having the fastest car than Reddick, he lacked that edge over the #45.

“45 was really loose, hit the fence several times…we were faster but where do you go when we’re all riding the fence…” he smiled.

The outcome of the race put Chris Buescher in the 4th spot in the playoffs standings with 2057 points, just 3 below Tyler Reddick. A confident Buescher exclaimed, “We are really proud of everybody. Proud to (get) top 3… trying to get rolling there!”

While everybody hoped that the RFK duo would rock the tracks at Kansas and Bristol, someone launched a warning at them, saying, “Keep your eye on that@austindillon3 guy. He makes a living in the playoffs knowing you have more to lose. He sees playoff drivers that aren’t his buddies like free passes. Keep doing the math in your head!”
