John Hunter Nemechek was named as the potential driver who could be driving the #45 from next season onwards. But that would only happen if Kurt Busch takes his own decision to retire from the sport altogether, owing to his medical condition. 23XI Racing would be more than happy to have Busch continue racing for them till the end of 2023, but in case he does decide to retire early, the team already has a contingency plan.

Nemechek currently drives in the Truck Series from Kurt’s brother, Kyle Busch’s team. Considering that Kyle’s move to RCR next year will move the team from Toyota to Chevrolet next year, Nemechek would prove to be a good opportunity for 23XI to pick up.

Fans react to news of John Hunter Nemechek being a candidate for 23XI Racing

NASCAR fans did not seem to be too pleased to hear Nemechek being one of the potential candidates and argued that he was too wreck-prone and compared him to the likes of Ross Chastain.

Now, Chastain has had the unique talent to turn almost half the grid against him over the duration of this season. Comparing Nemechek to the master himself wouldn’t be too apt. That’s to say because he hasn’t been fielded amongst Cup Series drivers yet.
