As a legendary basketball player, Michael Jordan has a swarm of fans that love him and his mighty personality. However, everyone who knows Jordan often appreciates his humbleness. Just like his friend and current business partner, Denny Hamlin. Before entering into a partnership for their NASCAR racing team 23XI Racing, MJ and Hamlin became friends around 2010 during the halftime of an NBA game.

Having bonded over MJ’s interest in NASCAR, the duo’s friendship soon turned into a partnership over the years. However, like many, Pardon My Take’s co-host could not believe that Hamlin was actually so close to MJ that the basketball legend wouldn’t hesitate to pick up his call.

When Denny Hamlin Called Michael Jordan on Air

During his appearance on Pardon My Take in 2019, the show’s co-hosts asked Hamlin if he got a chance to talk to Michael Jordan after his Daytona 500 win.

To this, Hamlin replied, “He texted me at 09:20 and the NBA game was going on. It’s his birthday, the race is over…I look at my phone and he’s like ‘Man! I am so happy.”

Surprised by the Basketball Hall of Famer’s gesture, the show’s co-host asked Hamlin if he could call MJ at the moment. And without hesitation, Hamlin took out the phone.

However, soon, he said that he wasn’t sure if Jordan would answer, considering that he is a private person. But citing that he shares a great relationship with him, he was sure that MJ wouldn’t mind him calling.

Surprised by Hamlin’s decision to call MJ on air, Pardon My Take’s co-host exclaimed, “You’re actually calling Michael Jordan!?” 

And to everyone’s surprise, Jordan did answer the phone and even told Hamlin that he was proud of him.

NASCAR Fans React to Denny Hamlin Calling MJ

Just like the hosts on the show, NASCAR fans in the comment section were also surprised to see Hamlin call MJ on air. A few YouTube users said that this was the biggest flex, whereas others applauded Jordan for picking up Hamlin’s call and saying those kind words to him.

One of them wrote, “Is that not the biggest flex ever, MJ answers your phone call.”

Whereas another one commented, “Can’t imagine the b*lls on that guy to just call up Michael Jordan.”

A NASCAR fan said, “I’ve always like Denny, but he may be my new favorite driver after that flex. How Kewl do you gotta be to not only get the GOAT to answer your call, but MJ sounded glad to hear from him.”

Apart from their friendship and common interest in NASCAR, Hamlin, and Jordan share their love for golf. Interestingly, their partnership is also a result of a golf game and a speculative news article about them.
