It’s celebration time for Bubba Wallace. After all, the 23XI Racing driver has recorded back-to-back Top 5 finishes in the last four Cup Series races. Having finished fourth at the Kansas Speedway, fifth in Darlington, second in North Wilkesboro, and fourth at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, Wallace is on a roll. However, does this close the ‘replacement’ chapter?
The 2023 season has not been easy for Wallace, especially after the streak of DNFs he had to suffer. Moreover, during the COTA race, the 23XI driver slammed into Kyle Larson as he completely mishit the brakes at Turn 12.

Disappointed in himself after COTA, Wallace told Fox, “Broke a toe link in the rear and then oil line. Just trying my hardest not to go down that slippery slope of self-doubt, right here,” Wallace said. “Two weeks in a row making rookie mistakes. Six years in the Cup. Need to be replaced.”
Criticizing his actions and harsh comments, many people from the NASCAR community expressed concern with Wallace’s choice of words. In fact, veteran driver Kenny Wallace reminded Bubba that he is backed by some big sponsors like McDonald’s and Doordash who would not be happy to hear something like that.
Hence, after going down that “slippery slope” of self-doubt, registering four back-to-back Top 5 finishes is a cause for celebration for Wallace. Not only has he overcome the negative thoughts he had about himself, but the #23 driver has also proved the haters wrong who demanded his team owner Michael Jordan fire him.
