Michael Jordan’s team emerged as the toast of the 2023 season. This year marked a significant milestone as the team made its dual entry into the playoffs, despite its relatively short history in the sport. The star of the show was none other than Bubba Wallace, who made his debut in the playoffs, igniting a fire of anticipation among fans, but it also put him squarely in the spotlight, with some critics questioning his ability to perform under playoff pressure.

Leading up to the regular season finale at the iconic Daytona Superspeedway, Wallace was undoubtedly the most talked-about figure in NASCAR lore. It seemed that even before the green flags were waved, the sport’s ever-vibrant community had migrated to Twitter, where naysayers were vocal in their hate against the 23XI star driver. and the root of this hate was a post by NASCAR’s own account.

As the anticipation built less just minutes before the grid lined up for the Hollywood Casino 400, NASCAR decided to stir up excitement by turning to Twitter. They posed a tantalizing question, asking fans to share their opinions and predictions for the race winner title. The post featured four past winners at Kansas Speedway, including Kyle Larson, Joey Logano, Denny Hamlin, and Bubba Wallace.

In October 2021, Kyle Larson claimed victory during his championship-winning year at Kansas Speedway. Team Penske’s Joey Logano had shown his mettle at Kansas with wins in 2014, 2015, and 2020. Denny Hamlin, co-owner of 23XI Racing, had an impressive track record at Kansas, boasting four victories, including his recent win in May 2023 amongst the singular win back in 2012 and two consecutive victories in 2019 & 2020.

Bubba Wallace, with his triumph in September 2022 at Kansas, had silenced his haters and proven that he had what it takes to clinch victory in the NASCAR Cup Series. Bubba Wallace’s maiden win at Talladega, though celebrated, was often met with skepticism due to the rain-filled, chaotic race day. His second victory, however, did it for Bubba, and how! In 2022, Wallace missed the playoffs but stepped up for his injured teammate Kurt Busch in pursuit of the No. 45 owner championship dreams, ultimately securing a much-needed victory.

Despite his accomplishments, Wallace continues to face unwarranted criticism from some quarters. Even in a recent NASCAR post, the comment section erupted with jabs and negativity directed at him.

Michael Jordan’s star driver’s unrelenting criticism persists

NASCAR‘s recent post alphabetizing drivers A, B, C, and D ignited a frenzy of opinions. The caption challenged fans to rank these four drivers based on their potential finish at Kansas Speedway, where they had a combined nine wins. A consistent trend emerged in the comment section as nearly every response positioned A (corresponding to Wallace) at the bottom of the list, making him the perceived least favorite to win.

In response to the post, the comment section became a battleground of opinions and jabs directed at Wallace. One commenter confidently predicted, “Larson will Finish ahead of Hamlin. And honestly after that, who cares about Bubba or Logano.”

Another commenter stirred the pot by suggesting, “Big whoop, if you take baby Wallace out and add Harvick (also in playoffs on points) then it would be a combined 11 wins…… just sayin.”
