Earlier this year, $1.7 billion-worth NBA star Michael Jordan left everyone astounded with his one-of-a-kind contributions in Make-A-Wish’s history. Jordan emphasized that his donation is solely dedicated to granting “wishes” to children with life-threatening illnesses. Even though NASCAR is leading its own charity, ‘The NASCAR Foundation’, that works to improve the lives of children who need it most in the NASCAR communities, there are teams that are running STEM programs in schools and providing resources to children. And Rick Hendrick’s team is no stranger to this.

Hendrick Motorsports, the winningest team in Cup Series history apart from trophies and championships, also stands for something bigger than winning. Collaborating with a 501 nonprofit organization, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, HMS has once again turned a fan’s dream into a reality.

Earlier this year, basketball legend Michael Jordan made a huge contribution on his birthday. Reportedly, Michael Jordan donated a whopping $10 million to Make-A-Wish on his 60th birth anniversary; he trounced the numbers big time and became the largest donor in the charitable organization’s 43-year history.

And now, seven months after Michael Jordan made this noble birthday display, it looks like Rick Hendrick might be walking on the same path. Hendrick Motorsports’ official Twitter handle shared glimpses of a youngster for whom Make-A-Wish made it possible to get the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take a tour of the HMS campus.

Colby Tucker had the opportunity to meet Alex Bowman. The boy must have had an unforgettable experience going through the day-to-day life of #48 driver Alex Bowman and his pit crew. Having had his wish come true, Colby’s mother, Jeri Tucker, expressed her gratitude towards the parties involved in this with a comment, that read,

“Colby had a once-in-a-lifetime experience today! It was more than we could have dreamed of. Thank you to everyone who made today possible!”

Apart from Rick Hendrick and Michael Jordan, another superstar who has been actively involved in such charities is WWE legend John Cena. Cena has been known to make the most wishes come true for any big celebrity, with 650 wishes and counting. Since starting the streak in 2002, Cena has almost never missed a chance to give back to society.

Multiple times, Hendrick Motorsports has granted wishes

In 2002, HMS collaborated with radio station Magic 96.1 in their initiative of ‘Make-A-Wish Wednesdays’ to co-host an open house event that put their cars on display at the studios of the radio channel. A heartwarming gesture by the team, it goes on to show how long the most successful team in NASCAR history has been doing it.

Again, in 2010, HMS granted another fan’s wish to see his idol, Dale Earnhardt Jr, who is also another celebrity to join the organization in their pursuit of fulfilling many people’s dreams. Continuing their benevolence, in 2017, the team helped 4-year-old cancer patient Lucas Ayers realize his dream of getting to see the building of a race car with his own eyes.
