In the world of NASCAR, the #45 racer of Michael Jordan is carving his name into the annals of racing history. The 2023 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs have witnessed a remarkable ascent by this young prodigy. The story begins with a spectacular second-place finish in the first playoff race, followed by a triumphant first-place victory in the next. With each race, Tyler Reddick grows brighter, and the final 12 now bear witness to his meteoric rise. But the saga doesn’t end there; there’s a twist to this tale.

In a recent episode of ‘NASCAR Live,’ Tyler Reddick of the #45 team at 23XI Racing opened up about his aspirations and the challenges ahead in the NASCAR playoffs. Having secured his spot in the playoff round of 12 with a victory at Kansas, Tyler reflected on his previous success at Texas Motor Speedway, where he won the race a year ago. Still, this time around, he approached it as a playoff contender.

During the interview, Dave Moody acknowledged that a 15th-place finish, like the one the ace of Michael Jordan had recently experienced, might not be the desired outcome for a driver. Still, there are times when it’s enough.

Tyler responded, “You know, I think for us, we tried to approach it like, I mean, we’re locked in around 12, right. So I figured they abandoned the situation and look ahead and think about it. You know, I feel like a round of 12, you know, things could go wrong, right, but I feel like we have enough speed to make it through there, you know, the round that was things you’d find interesting.”

“I feel it is the round of eight, so trying to look ahead to that right and say all right. Let’s just say this is a practice run at the round of eight. Here’s race one and a round of eight, and you score X amount of points, and let’s go and try and do that tonight, and realistically you have to 15th place finishes is not what we want right.” Reddick further stated.

The Kansas race, the one that secured Reddick’s passage to the next round, saw him outpace none other than his own team owner, Denny Hamlin. A moment of sweet victory, but the team’s journey was far from over.

Now, the new ace of Michael Jordan had more to say about the playoff battle.

Tension Rises in the NASCAR Playoffs for #45 of Michael Jordan

At Bristol Motor Speedway, one driver reveled in victory lane, but four others were unceremoniously booted from playoff contention. The remaining 12, however, found solace in advancing to the second round—well, actually 10, as Kyle Larson and Tyler Reddick had already secured their spots with wins at Darlington and Kansas. But now it’s this weekend’s race at Texas Speedway that has everyone on edge.

“When we look at the amount of points that we scored I think we were really close to hitting our target. You know if we were in the round of eight what do we need to do so it’s the speed that we kind of lacked unfortunately saturday night and still able to finish 15th. And still you’re really close to that target that we’re shooting for when we get to round of eight.” Reddick stated during the podcast.

The star of Michael Jordan also added, “I think it was a good little test for us. I mean, it’s even on our one of what I feel like was one of our worst days, you know, between the two of us, but the 23 and the 45 in a while, we still got good points. I mean, for me, that helps do my confidence and hopefully it did that for the rest of the team as well.”
