A top-10 finish is usually considered a good finish, but things are a bit more complicated in the penultimate round of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series championship. Only eight drivers remain in the mix to fight for the title. Four will be eliminated at the end of the round. Therefore, it is absolutely crucial to earn as many points as possible. However, for Michael Jordan’s prodigy, things did not go as well as he might have hoped.

23XI Racing still has one driver in the round of 8, Tyler Reddick. If Reddick reaches the championship race, it will be a huge achievement for the team. However, the 27-year-old will have a tough time getting the job done given his place on the points table.

At the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Tyler Reddick did not deliver a terrible performance. He finished P8 and amassed 38 points to his name. However, with just eight drivers left in the title fight, the 23XI Racing driver would have wanted a better result. Reddick has really found his form this year, as he has been delivering consistent results.

The 27-year-old has already won a couple of races, one of which came in the playoffs. He will need to find some of that form in the next couple of races if he wants to make it through to the championship race. Despite a top-10 finish in Vegas, the driver of the #45 finds himself 16 points behind fourth place on the points table.

Tyle Reddick might have been able to finish in a higher position, but he was not exactly comfortable with the #45. In a radio message, the 27-year-old was heard expressing his uncertainty about the car. In the post-race interview, Michael Jordan’s star revealed that the handling of the car was off. That is probably why he could not finish higher in the pack.

“Just kind of struggling to understand the feel of the car right now. Don’t know what I can trust,” the 27-year-old said in a radio message to his team.

Given that he had to struggle with the feel and handling of the car, P8 is not a bad result. But when it comes to the points, Tyler Reddick finds himself in a bit of a soup. There are still two races to go, and recovering 16 points isn’t impossible. The 27-year-old believes that it is not a must-win situation for him just yet.

In the post-race interview at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Team Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin’s No. 45 revealed the issues he faced during the race. The 27-year-old said that the result was decent given the problems with the car and that things could have been worse.

“We just missed a little bit of handling, unfortunately. We were just really loose. And it just kind of boxes us in what we could do today, but I mean to get an eighth out of it. I think with that was a better finish than what we probably would have had, just straight up on pace, so to get that finish is good for us,” he said.

“Obviously, you look at it, yeah! We lost ground on the cut line, but with how our car drove today, it should have been a lot worse than it was, so we got something out of it and just kind of minimized the bleeding,” Michael Jordan’s prodigy added.

There are still a couple of races to go in the round of 8, and Tyler Reddick is not too far behind the cutline. However, it won’t be an easy task for Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin’s drivers, who will face stiff competition.
