There was a time when big-shot teams could make certain permissible tweaks to the stock car and get themselves significant performance bonuses. Back then, it was all about which team had the fastest car. However, with the dawn of the new generation of stock cars in the arena of NASCAR, every car is almost similar in terms of components, specifications, and statistics. Hence, a lot more goes into winning a race with Next Gen cars.
With something new as the Next Gen cars, there still remain a lot of unknowns. One of those was highlighted at the Texas Motor Speedway last week. When the incident between Michael Jordan’s driver Bubba Wallace and Hendrick Motorsports icon Kyle Larson happened moments after a late-race restart, the latter learned something new about these high-tech beasts.

Several fans have been blaming Michael Jordan’s driver for wrecking Kyle Larson. However, the replays indicate that Bubba Wallace didn’t initiate contact with Larson as the latter spun out. As they entered turn 2, Wallace drove door-to-door with Larson when suddenly the rear end of the #5 Chevy got loose and hit the outside wall.
It is safe to say that the 31-year-old Californian has been one of the most consistent drivers in the playoffs with a win in the opener and another top-5 in the first three races. However, his consistency wavered when the side force from Bubba Wallace‘s car hurled him into a precarious situation in the round of 12 battle as he fell right from the top 5 to the 8th rank in the playoff standings.
But the HMS star did not blame?Wallace as he realized it was not Wallace but the car, that took away his hopes of winning the Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 400. While talking to Frontstretch, he said, “I’ve never even had a loose moment underneath somebody. I was caught off guard by it. I think factors in it are probably the surface and how hard the tire is.”
“It just sucked me around. I wasn’t expecting it but it’ll be on my mind going forward,” he admitted.
Larson also talked about the way forward, saying, “You can’t look in the past too much. You gotta take whatever last week gave you and try to adjust and recover in the following.”

When Larson acquitted the 23XI Racing speedster of the charges against him, even the fans changed their tone and did the same. Several seemed to acknowledge that it was indeed the car’s fault and not Wallace’s.
NASCAR community point fingers at the real reason behind Kyle Larson’s dull Texas outing
When NBC Sports tweeted a clip of Kyle Larson hitting the wall, captioned, “Kyle Larson CRASHES racing Bubba Wallace,” a lion’s-share of the racing fandom took Bubba Wallace to task for wrecking the #5 driver. However, some argued that it was not Bubba’s fault.

One of them said, “I?m so confused by this car. One week they can?t take air away from other cars, the next they can?” Another fan wrote, “Larson fans are being quite fair for the most part. I too was very disappointed Larson wrecked but Bubba didn?t do anything wrong to cause it.” Another motorsport enthusiast commented, “That?s a product of the current gen car not Bubba …”
A Hendrick Motorsports supporter typed, “As a longtime fan of Mr. H, this was not Bubba’s fault. @KyleLarsonRacin put himself in that position and lost the air. Racing incident.”
