A die-hard fan of motorsports, especially Formula 1, will surely remember the epic battle in Silverstone back in 2022. The audience was served a one-of-a-kind fight between Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez, as to who shall take the lead, but it was Lewis Hamilton who took up the opportunity and glided past them. A similar kind of situation arose at the Darlington Speedway on Sunday and it was William Byron from HMS who capitalized on the situation to grab the checkered.

While it was Leclerc and Perez back in Silverstone. In Darlington, it was Ross Chastain and Kyle Larson who once again wrecked into each other at Turn 2, with 6 laps to go in the race. The race at Darlington had all the elements to glue its audiences to their seats. Paying the due respect to the veterans of NASCAR, a deserving win and a few wrecks. The race saw multiple cautions, but that did not stop William Byron from achieving his goal of taking the checkered.

These wrecks were the main topic of discussion between Hamlin and his co-host Jared Allen in the latest episode of his podcast. He was quite displeased with how things turned out between Ross Chastain and Kyle Larson.

The Joe Gibbs Racing veteran said, “You know when you kind of digest this whole Chastain-Larson thing, you definitely have to go back earlier or previous restarts, where Chastain was on the inside of Larson.

“So this was before the one where Larson kind of rubbed Chastain up. I think he was paying him back from earlier in the earlier restarts.

“Where Chastain was, he didn’t give Kyle much room. I saw him, he slid up pretty aggressively in the middle of 1 and 2 and ’cause Kyle kinda checked up a little bit, because he probably thought he was about to get slammed, and then Ross just kinda kept pushing Kyle up higher and higher on the exit 2, where it caused Kyle to get up in the stuff and then Kyle lost three or four positions.”

Hamlin added, “And then Kyle’s one of those guys, like he’ll race you pretty fair. But you do stuff like that, certainly, he’ll give it back to you. Like he’s gonna rough you up a little bit or maybe door ya.”

The #11 Toyota driver went on to describe the debacle between Ross Chastain and Martin Truex Jr, “Kyle Larson goes in Turn 1. He’s on the inside of Ross. He clearly goes up there.” While Jared added, “This is the one they wreck in the 2nd row.”

Although Hamlin and his co-host digressed a little, they came back to the debacle between Larson and Chastain. Hamlin confessed, “He definitely got wronged by Chastain when he got moved up the racetrack in Turn 2. Not only did he lose the lead, but he also lost 2nd and 3rd place, and he went back to 4th. And that was a pretty crucial moment of the race.”

The fight culminated when, “So later on, in the TV, it was broadcasted all over. Clint [Bowyer] did a great job of explaining it. He says, ‘Hey you know, it’s don’t think that Kyle Larson forgot about Ross Chastain shoving him up the race track. They go into Turn 1 and Kyle instantly just kind of lets go of the wheel and just kind of moves up in the racetrack.”

The 3x Daytona winner added jokingly, “I mean, hate to say it, it was very similar to what I did to Chastain.” However, the driver was interrupted midway by Jared to avoid new controversies. “He did not let go of the wheel, though.”
