Coming into the playoff race at Darlington, it was déjà vu for Tony Stewart’s driver, Kevin Harvick. Despite sneaking into the playoffs by the skin of his teeth, it seems Lady Luck has taken a rain check when it comes to joining him on the track. At the eleventh hour in Daytona, even after dominating the tail end, Buescher swooped in, leaving Harvick biting the dust at P9.

And if Daytona threw a spanner in the works, Darlington was the icing on the cake of misfortune, especially with the pit-stop penalty when he was in the P2. Yet, amid this stormy weather and Harvick’s gloom, Tony Stewart might just have an ace up his sleeve for the team.

A silver lining, perhaps?

Is Tony Stewart experimenting with something ahead of the Kansas race?

When the going gets tough, the tough get going, and Tony Stewart’s resilience this season is a testament to that. Not even a hiccup like Kevin Harvick’s pit road penalty can shake his confidence in the team’s potential.

Recently, Stewart-Haas Racing dropped a tease on Twitter with the caption, Cookin’ up something delicious with @SmithfieldBrand and @Whataburger at Kansas,” spicing things up before the Kansas race and revealing the No. 10 car will be making a pit stop at Whataburger in Kansas City.

With Aric Almirola behind the wheel of the Smithfield car at the Hollywood Casino 400, fans will get a taste of Whataburger’s iconic orange on the car’s side panels.

While Almirola and his No. 10 crew missed the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series Playoff cut, they’ve kept their noses to the grindstone. Riding high on his recent third-place finish at Daytona, he faced a hiccup at Darlington when his Ford Mustang took a nose-dive. But with true grit, he and his crew rallied to cross the finish line in 14th place.

Now, with Kansas Speedway on the horizon—a track where Almirola holds a fairly good record—the goal is crystal clear: clinch their maiden victory of 2023. Should they hit paydirt, Smithfield and Whataburger will be on a victory lap of their own.
