The last race of the NASCAR Cup Series 2023 condensed a season’s worth of thrills in a single day. Martin Truex Jr won the race’s first stage and Bubba Wallace held on to his Playoff spot. Preece’s frightening crash gave flashbacks of Rusty Wallace’s 1993 Talladega flips. But the crème de la crème of visual treats was RFK Racing’s 1-2 finish.

Chris Buescher clinched the top spot, ably supported by his teammate Brad Keselowski, who finished second. This is Buescher’s third win this season, but it may not have been possible without Keselowski’s priorities toward his team. Keselowski as a part owner of Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing was lorded for his efforts of placing the team’s interests before his own.

Brad Keselowski holds 75 NASCAR wins in his 14 years of racing in the Cup Series. Unfortunately, he couldn’t win any of the races this year. The Coke Zero Sugar 400 was his only chance before the playoffs began. But instead of focusing on that, he prioritized RFK, resulting in the first 1-2 finish for the team. Chris Buescher #17 Ford took the lead after a caution came up for Ryan Preece.

With one lap to go, Keselowski’s #6 stayed behind Buescher and pushed him on the outside to increase his momentum. The #6 then locked its bumpers behind #17, which helped Buescher gain much-needed ground over the #4 Ford of Kevin Harvick and #10 of Aric Almirola. Keselowski then allowed Buescher to separate from him as they both crossed the finish line one after another.

It was indeed admirable how he supported Buescher all the way to the finish line. He knew that trying to win could risk a wreck that could take them both out of the race. Instead, he facilitated a strong finish for both his cars and his teammate. Buescher was quick to admit at the end of the race that his win also belonged to Keselowski.

Buescher’s victory and the team’s 1-2 finish was an outstanding result for RFK Racing. After the race, their social media page posted a picture of the ‘boss man’ along with a caption that summarized the race perfectly.

This performance didn’t go unnoticed by fans and they greatly appreciated him for the part he played in Buescher’s win. RFK Racing’s post garnered hundreds of responses from approving fans, crediting him for his role in RFK’s success. Not many could have imagined Roush Fenway Racing to win three out of the last five races in the cup series before Keselowski became part-owner.

Another commentator declared that Keselowski set an example for bosses as a co-owner of the team. After all, in his leadership, the #17 and #6 cars have led more laps in the past two years than the rest of their careers combined. One RFK fan hinted, “That’s what good bosses do is push their employees to win. That was cool and dedicated!!! Thanks Brad for reminding us bosses.”

Someone went as far as to compare him to a bulldozer for pushing out a solid performance from Buescher. Not only that, he also stood like one between Buescher and the rest of the cars without giving them room to take over. They said, “I think you should get Caterpillar to sponsor him! I mean some bulldozers don’t push that well!”

From proclaiming him as the ‘best boss’ to applauding RFK for recognizing his contribution, it was a great day all around for the team and their fans.
