Interactions between drivers and fans can happen in a lot of ways. Sometimes it’s a great moment, sometimes not much. On many occasions, drivers have given some suggestions back to the fans. One such incident is when 3-time Supercars champion Scott McLaughlin decided to clear some doubts around his racing strategy.

The interaction occurs on a Twitter post by the IndyCar official handle. The video depicts one of the moves by the Bathurst 1000 winner he uses to overtake #14 Chevrolet driver Santino Ferrucci. While the fan wanted to point out the available opportunity to make a push-to-pass move, McLaughlin decides to justify his move. Ryan Blaney joins the conversation with a sarcastic tone in the backdrop.

Scott McLaughlin hits back at critics, as Ryan Blaney joins him

The video in the post is set in yesterday’s Sonsio Grand Prix at Road America. Although Mclaughlin managed to grab a top-10 finish, he could not make it to the upper half of the top-10 drivers. Starting 18th on the 27-car grid, the Team Penske driver was at 15th with the first lap’s completion. Content with his finish and his patient overtake, the #3 Chevrolet driver was in no mood for criticism. The fan, coincidentally named Scott as well, commented, “And wasting all of that push-to-pass…”

Scottie took no time in hitting back in the argument. “I’m not wasting it if I’m passing someone champion”

Well, it’s true that there was no immediate need of the move in question. Scott’s reasoning also underlines the situation as he ultimately overtook the car after some time. One of the drivers who was supportive of McLaughlin was his fellow Team Penske driver in Cup Series, Ryan Blaney.

Blaney added some banter to the tense air as he quoted, “Scotty you should listen to him, he’s been to 46 Indy 500s mate.”

Blaney is one of the drivers who like McLaughlin is responsive to unnecessary criticism by the fans. He has also spoken about blaming Chase Briscoe and Michael McDowell for ruining his streak at Sonoma. The allegations came in form of a reply to a fan who bet money on a better performance by the #12 Mustang driver.

Fans back Blaney’s savage reply to fans criticizing McLaughlin

Ryan Blaney’s sarcasm has excited the fans. They have shown their support for the Penske men and hopped on the trend of Blaney’s social outburst. One fan tweets, “Someone woke up today and chose Sass. We are here for it.” while another said, “Someone woke up today and chose Sass. We are here for it.”

The comic interaction is one of the funnier examples of interaction between fans and drivers. While it was not an autograph for the fan, instead it might be a potential beef with Ryan Blaney.
