Of late, the discussion in and around the Cup Series garage has been on the subject of the lack of respect among drivers. A few weeks ago, two-time Cup champion Kyle Busch had talked about the drivers not giving enough respect to one another on the tracks. Following his comments, other drivers too had come out echoing Busch’s sentiment. However, things came to a boil during last weekend’s road course race at the Circuit of the Americas. The fans witnessed several incidents during the race as drivers ran four or five lanes wide and slammed into each other, especially at turns 1 and 11.
Even Dale Earnhardt Jr’s spotter spoke about the issue and agreed with Busch’s solution for the same. However, recently, a veteran of the sport lashed out with a fierce argument related to Busch’s comment. He even had a rather peculiar solution to end the lack-of-respect problem once and for all.

What is the NASCAR veteran’s solution for the issue raised by Kyle Busch?
Former NASCAR driver and journalist Kenny Wallace shared a video on Twitter, saying, “Media has talked to all the drivers, all the Cup drivers, ‘What’s gonna make you all stop wrecking each other?’ There is no respect.’ So every interview is like, ‘I don’t wreck nobody. But if he was wrecking me, I’m gonna wreck him.’ Everybody is calling each other out.”
He then explained that he had mentioned a fix for the lack of mutual respect issue in a youtube video earlier. His suggestion was not to dock points or impose other penalties, but to shame the guilty drivers. In the video, the former racer said, “If it’s official that you wreck somebody, they need to shame you.”
He then cited the example of how former NASCAR driver, Ernie Irvan, apologized to everyone back in the day at Talladega. Wallace emphasized that NASCAR had to make a rule to make sure that the driver that was in that wrong should be called to the driver’s meeting and ask them to apologize to everyone in front of the sponsors. He added that the only way to stop wreck fests is to find the culprits and “Shame ’em.”

Busch specifically targeted the newer generation of drivers who have emerged in the sport over the years. The RCR driver mentioned that there should be repercussions for the actions made by others on track. Previously, Rowdy had also remarked that this younger generation of racers had “completely ruined it from what it used to be.”
Whether it is Busch or Wallace, both drivers talk about repercussions in one way or the other. Moreover, Wallace’s solution, though quirky, has given fans something to think about. One way or the other, the drivers should realize that there are repercussions that come with wrecking other people and showcasing no respect while jostling for position out on track.
