Legacy Motor Club is on a roll. After a struggle-filled 2023, the team has changed allegiance from Chevrolet to Toyota and, along with it, has welcomed some attractive sponsors into the team. Last week, the NASCAR Cup Series team announced a renewal of its agreement with Dollar Tree in a multi-year deal, which will see Jimmie Johnson and Co. receive $30 million throughout the contract. In a recent turn of events, fan speculations have also suggested that the team is set to receive the backing of some more partners due to its alliance with TRD.

Before declaring the Dollar Tree and Family Dollar partnership, LMC had revealed Advent Health’s role in 2024. The company will sponsor Erik Jones in the #43 Toyota in six races in the upcoming season, and the paint scheme of his Camry XSE was unveiled just last week. Picking out the small details on the paint scheme, certain fans have linked GEARWRENCH and Mobil 1 to the team’s sponsor list.

Kevin Harvick‘s retirement from the sport triggered several sponsor changes in the NASCAR Cup Series. Harvick’s primary sponsor, Busch Light, left the #4 team to join the #1 team of Ross Chastain, which forced Advent Health out of favor with Trackhouse Racing. Subsequently, the healthcare firm took a similar turn as Legacy Motor Club changed partners from a Chevrolet to a Toyota, and struck a deal with them.

Erik Jones‘ #43 Advent Health paint scheme was the first 2024 scheme that LMC revealed. Magnifying the minor details of the #43 Toyota, one of the fans on Reddit found the decals of GEARWRENCH AND Mobil 1 on the rear end of the car. With the team not officially announcing the recruitment of these partners, the discovery has taken the fans by surprise.

However, one of the most factual possibilities for the presence of these companies is their allegiance to Toyota Racing Development. TRD is responsible for manufacturing race-ready cars in NASCAR and has been backed by these organizations as a part of bigger deals like the one with Apex Tool Group as the official hand tool, power tool, and storage partner of TRD. So, let us explore the history between TRD and these companies.

In February 2022, Apex Tool Group announced the beginning of a long-term strategic partnership with Toyota Racing Development. As a result of the deal, Apex Tools entered the TRD garages in California and North Carolina. Alongside the strategic supplies, it featured on several paint schemes in different racing disciplines like the NASCAR Truck Series, ARCA Menards, and USAC Midget Series.

Apex Tool Group is the parent company of brands like GEARWRENCH, Crescent Tools, and Cleco Power Tools. In the 2022 NASCAR season, TRD drivers like Corey Heim, Jesse Love, and Cannon McIntosh drove Crescent Tools-sponsored vehicles in their respective competitions. One of the most significant representations in that season was Heim’s #51 Toyota Tundra in four races with Kyle Busch Motorsports.

Apart from these brands, Apex Tool Group will also aid TRD, following strategic partners like Mobil 1, KBL, and Safelite Auto Glass. LMC is the latest team to benefit from TRD’s alliance with Mobil 1. TRD named Mobil 1 as an official technology partner, which has helped TRD teams to receive branded engine oil, chassis lubricants, and gear oil.

The partnership has also produced championship-winning seasons, like Kyle Busch‘s 2015 and Martin Truex Jr’s 2017 NASCAR Cup Series championship wins. To strengthen the deal, TRD has named Mobil1 motor oil the only approved motor oil for the manufacturer’s engine program. Legacy Motor Club is the latest racing team to benefit from a switch to Toyota Racing Development. The outcomes of the new partnership are shaping up to be what CEO Cal Wells revealed to be a ‘tier-one‘ partnership.
