With three races already done in the NASCAR Cup Series, Chevrolet looks dominant in the competition. Having said that, it would have been a lot better had Kyle Busch not faced on-track issues. Currently, the Richard Childress Racing driver sits sixth in the standings. However, he could have easily been among the top three if not for some pit road mishaps.
Despite being in his second year at RCR, Rowdy looks quite settled and in good form this year. With 63 Cup Series wins under his belt, the #8 driver looks more hungry than ever to add more to his tally. And to make sure his will to win is fed well, RCR has stepped in.

Last year, Kyle Busch finished 14th in the Cup Series despite having three wins to his name. Safe to say, pit crew issues were a common phenomenon even back in 2023. However, with a new year and a fresh approach, things were expected to change. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case given what happened at Daytona 500.
In the very first race of the season, one of Busch’s pit crew members had an abrupt fall on the pit road. Naturally, this resulted in a penalty for Busch and team despite having a strong finish in Stage 1. On top of that, his pit crew team later fumbled with a lug nut, leading to a loose tire. Eventually, this played a vital role in robbing the former Joe Gibbs Racing driver from his first-ever Daytona 500 win.

RCR owner Richard Childress took some bold steps right after the race as he provided Busch with a new jackman in the form of Garrett Crall. This did help the #8 driver with a P3 finish at Ambetter Health 400 and he further went on to register a Truck Series as well. However, it wasn’t the same in Las Vegas.
With hopes being high on repeating the same feat in the Cup Series race, Rowdy’s fans looked unsurprisingly excited. However, things didn’t go as planned with Busch finishing P26. What was more shocking is how his pit stop ranked the slowest at the 2024 Pennzoil 400. Naturally, this caused Richard Childress to introduce more changes.
To aid Busch’s on-track performance, his pit crew has further gone under major changes. Ahead of the race at Phoenix Raceway, there are three notable changes. Michael Johnson, Shiloh Windsor, and Jack-Doug Warrick join in as the new rear changer, front changer, and jackman respectively.
Kyle Busch crew changes:
Rear changer: Michael Johnson (and remains 21 NXS) for Chris Jackson (remains 48 NXS)
Front changer-Shiloh Windsor (remains on rear 5 NXS) for Michael Russell (remains on front 5 NXS)
Jack-Doug Warrick (remains 48 NXS) for Garrett Crall (remains 5 NXS)

Now that Kyle Busch has some new team members on the pit road, it will be an interesting watch. While the primary agenda will be to avoid any more on-track mishaps, the end goal will always be to register a victory. At Phoenix Raceway, Rowdy has a phenomenal record and stands a good chance to register his 64th NASCAR Cup Series win.
So far, Busch has ended up victorious thrice in Arizona in the 37 races he has participated. Statistically, Joey Logano remains his toughest competitor as the Team Penske driver also has an impressive record with three wins in just 30 races. To add, even Denny Hamlin could pose a threat who has two wins and the best average finish (10.8) among the three drivers.

The bottom of the pit stop charts were occupied by some new and development crews but the No. 8 of @KyleBusch being positioned so low is likely to result in more changes on that squad if the trend continues.
