Heading into Daytona this weekend (on all occasions), Bubba Wallace had one goal in mind: win the race and make it to the playoffs. This outcome was one that, as unrealistic as it may seem to some, was quite a realistic one. After all, he narrowly missed the checkered flag earlier this season in the Daytona 500.
But while the season opener left him with a P2 consolation, the result of the final race of the regular season wasn’t that kind on Wallace.

The 23XI Racing driver finished in the 11th spot, leaving him out of the playoffs to come.
And as if his race wasn’t bad enough considering the circumstances, he was also handed a spot on the DVP list by NASCAR, something that really upset quite a lot of fans who made their feelings pretty clear.

Bubba Wallace on his future at 23XI Racing
A few weeks ago, Bubba Wallace delighted his fans by announcing that he has signed a deal with 23XI Racing which will keep him tied to the Denny Hamlin-Michael Jordan outfit for a long time.
However, speaking after the announcement of his renewal, the #23 driver opened up on his thoughts of turning this long term deal, into an even longer one as he touched upon the mutual commitment between him and his team.

“I want to make this a super-long-term deal. I’d love to retire here — hopefully retirement’s not until like 10, 15 years down the road – but that was that was my goal from day one,” he said.
Wallace described how 2022 has been, in his opinion, his best year so far in the Cup Series, one in which they’ve continuously made strides to improve and get better.
