In motorsports, there will be times when drivers will be on their own. Additionally, there is also the odd case of ‘ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer’. Most of the time, this kind of situation pops up because the ones in charge don’t have the patience to deal with it. So when NASCAR Truck Series driver Conner Jones encountered this very scenario, one of his crew members was not in the mood.

Apparently, the 18-year-old had encountered some issues during the race and was struggling. As such, Jones radioed his team to ask whether he should continue or just retire the truck. The issue that he faced was a power steering problem, and this would make the teenager’s race tougher than normal.

However, the crew member was not at all sympathetic to his plight and bluntly said, “You could be a man” when asked “if he wanted to keep running or park it. Jones: “I can’t run it without power steering.”

It looks like the crew member is clearly fed up with the complaining and wants the 18-year-old to suck it up. After all, a power steering failure doesn’t mean that the truck was undrivable; it just means that it demanded more strength to steer. So instead of wanting to deal with potential bratty behavior, he wanted Jones to just salvage something from the race.

Jones was adamant that he could not race without power steering, and that was the last straw for the team. Sadly, the driver won the battle of wills, and he eventually pulled in to retire from the race. Conner Jones probably figured that the truck was undrivable without power steering and couldn’t handle the machine.

It isn’t to say that he is a bad driver, because his best finish was 14th at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He is also running a part-time schedule for ThorSport Racing, and this was his sixth race in 2024.

While all this was going on, Corey Heim triumphed at North Wilkesboro last night. He finished ahead of Grant Enfinger and Layne Riggs, with Brenden ‘Butterbean’ Queen and Sammy Smith rounding out the Top 5. The Truck race had been delayed for a while, thanks to inclement weather. However, once it got underway, Corey Heim practically dominated the race and finished 2.4 seconds ahead of Enfinger.

It was a great day in the office for Tricon Garage because not only did Heim win, but rookie Queen was 4th. The best part was that this was the 26-year-old’s maiden Truck Series start, and he already snatched a Top 5. As for their other teammates, Taylor Gray finished 13th, and Tanner’s older brother finished 16th.
