According to reports, NASCAR and Texas Motor Speedway will allow a limited number of fans in the grandstands next month for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 Cup Series race. NASCAR will run its rescheduled Cup race in Texas on July 19th.
This Friday, Texas Governor Greg Abbott confirmed that the state will permit fans for the race as part of an extensive ‘action plan’. Earlier, the Texas Governor revealed that Texas could allow open-air sporting venues to host up to 50% of their capacity. The event will become the first major sporting event in Texas to allow fans.
He said, “Texans are eager for sporting and entertainment events to return, and this is a great step towards that goal.”

According to ESPN, the track officials said that the grandstands and suites will be made available for the fans. The attendees will have to adhere to strict social distancing measures and some extra protective conventions.
Additionally, It isn’t clear how many tickets would be open for the fans for the race. And if only special guests will be allowed like in the last race. The Texas Motor Speedway has a capacity of over 100,000 seats in the grandstand.

NASCAR Hosted Fans for the first time after it’s return in Homestead-Miami
Last week, NASCAR allowed limited number of fans inside the venue for the Homestead race. It was the first occasion after the series returned from the COVID-19 lockdown. Around 1000 military personal and family members were allowed to spectate the race in Homestead-Miami.

In the Miami race, fans had to follow strict social distancing measures and stand at least 6 feet apart. Additionally, everyone had to wear a face mask. And there was a mandatory non-contact temperature check for entry inside the venue.
