NASCAR Xfinity Series team Alpha Prime Racing’s co-owner is not just a team leader but also a passionate driver. Hailing from Parkland, Florida, the 51-year-old has been racing part-time in the Xfinity Series since 2017. In his 32 career starts, he has earned three top-10 finishes in the last two seasons.

Despite his performances, Alpha Prime Racing has failed to make a wave in the second tier. Since 2022, the team had six top 10s, including two top-five finishes, including one in 2024. Now, as the 2025 season approaches, APR has revealed its roadmap for the upcoming challenges. APR has announced that their co-owner Cesar Bacarella will make a comeback in the upcoming season in a new role.

Just 45 days ahead of the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series, Alpha Prime Racing has revealed that Bacarella will return to tracks. He will drive the No.45 Prime Bites Mini Muffins / TikTok Shop Chevrolet in the season opener at Daytona. This race is special, not just for the team but also for Bacarella, as he steps back into the spotlight.

It’s worth noting that Bacarella has had a solid career on superspeedways. In 2024, he competed in four races and scored two top-10 finishes with a seventh place at Talladega and ninth place at Michigan. Notably, his best career finish was sixth at Talladega in 2023. However, his racing career has not been so easy.

Bacarella faced a challenging moment in his racing career in November 2021. NASCAR suspended him indefinitely for violating the sport’s substance abuse policy. However, he later clarified that the substance came from a workout supplement he had unknowingly consumed. Bacarella explained that he was unaware the product contained ingredients prohibited by NASCAR’s rules.

In a statement, Tommy Joe Martins, co-owner of Alpha Prime Racing, defended Bacarella, emphasizing that the incident was unintentional and out of character. Despite the setback, Bacarella took full responsibility for the mistake and committed to making things right. He enrolled in NASCAR’s Road to Recovery program, a mandatory process for suspended drivers to address substance-related issues and demonstrate readiness to return to competition.

By February 2022, NASCAR reinstated Bacarella, acknowledging his successful completion of the program. Since then, he has competed every year on selective racetracks. Now, with his 2025 comeback in sight, Bacarella will look to improve both his and APR’s performance. Apart from him team will also depend on star driver Parker Retzlaff and his new crew chief Joe Williams.

Alpha Prime Racing is gearing up for a transformative 2025 season. The team showed signs of improvement in 2024, with four top-10 finishes and an average finish of 22.8. While they didn’t secure any wins, the team’s performance indicated steady progress. To bolster their chances in 2025, Alpha Prime Racing has made some strategic moves.

APR has roped in new crew chief Joe Williams for their rising driver Parker Retzlaff. Williams brings with him a wealth of experience and a proven track record in NASCAR. Has held various important roles throughout his career, including serving as a crew chief in the highly competitive NASCAR Cup Series. His career highlights include a stint with RSS Racing, where he managed the No. 28 Ford Mustang Dark Horse. Before that, Williams was with AM Racing, where he helped establish a new team and guided driver Brett Moffitt to significant success, including a top-10 finish in Kansas during a rain-shortened race in 2023.

After signing Joe Willams to Retzlaff’s team, Bacarella also expressed his excitement about adding a youngster to the team. He had said, “I’m just super excited to have him [Parker Retzlaff] join us. He’s a young, really talented race car driver, and he’s going to help elevate the team. There’s been a lot of ups and downs, but he [Tommy] and I agree it’s all about the people. It’s so hard. We’re racing against the best teams in the world. But we’ve got great people, and that’s what’s made it work. And now we’ve got two ace drivers in the stable full-time.”
