Recently, the National Motorsport Press Association bestowed a great honor on Martin Truex Jr. Apparently, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver and his girlfriend received the NMPA Pocono Spirit Award.

The award recognized the fact that the couple founded the Sherry Strong Integrative Medicine Oncology Clinic.

The clinic takes care of all the needs of cancer patients in order to promote health and wellness. Owing to this, the #19 Joe Gibbs Racing driver deserved the award for his humanitarian efforts.

It is worth mentioning that the NMPA organization has acknowledged many NASCAR drivers this season. Among them are Kevin Harvick and former drivers, Dale Earnhardt Jr and Jimmie Johnson. Earnhardt and Steve Kinser earned a place in the NMPA Hall of Fame.

Meanwhile, Harvick received the Richard Petty Driver of the Year award and Johnson earned the 2020 Myers Brothers Award.

What can we expect of Martin Truex Jr in 2021?

Admittedly, many rumors suggested Martin Truex Jr would hang up his boots and retire. However, he recently confirmed that he has begun preparing for the coming season.

This effectively quashed all suggestions of him walking away from the sport, for now at least. It is worth mentioning that Truex Jr is well in his 40s, so retirement cannot be far off.

Despite the age factor, the veteran is still going strong and even racked up a win in 2020. It also helps that the Joe Gibbs Racing team is one of the best teams on the grid.

However, the fact of the matter is that Truex Jr could be running on borrowed time and he may not stick around for long.
