Corey LaJoie has been a driver in NASCAR for a number of years now but has made a rather infamous name for himself. A lot of drivers have complained about LaJoie’s driving style, including the likes of Kyle Busch. The driver of the #7 car was caught up in yet another controversy in Charlotte on Sunday. This time, it was a former teammate who called out the 32-year-old for his moves on the track, and he did not hold back!
The 32-year-old has raced in the Cup Series in eight seasons but has never won. The #7 driver for Spire Motorsports is not exactly considered to be the most prolific of drivers in the competition. But his reputation as someone who is involved in crashes is quite widespread.
Former teammate slams “typical” Corey LaJoie

With just a couple of laps to go at the Charlotte Motor Speedway on Sunday, Corey LaJoie spun around his former teammate Josh Bilicki. Bilicki is a part-timer in the Cup Series driving the #78 for Live Fast Motorsports. The incident took place near the pit exit.
Corey LaJoie seemed to have overdriven into Josh Bilicki, who had left him enough space. The #78 car spun around, lost a number of places and finished P26. His former teammate, on the other hand, finished in the top 20 in P17. The caution had come out as a result and that compromised the tire strategy of a few cars around them, including a former champion.
Chase Elliott was about to dive into the pits for a tire change in that exact lap. However, the caution meant that pit lane entry was closed and he had to abort. This massively compromised the HMS driver’s race as he came out well outside the top 15 in the last stage, and eventually took home the P9, despite having led Stage 2.
After the race, Josh Bilicki was fuming as he called out his former teammate and slammed his on-track antics.
“We just got ran over. Second, actually the third time this season by a Spire car. It’s almost like we got a target on our backs, so. We were setting ourselves up in a really good position to run top 20, top 15 maybe, and yeah, I mean, right out of the pits and I saw him in my rearview camera, he was there, I left him room, I don’t know if he overdrove but typical Corey, gonna apologize some half-a** apology and whatever,” Bilicki said.
The driver of the #78 did not just stop there. Later in the day, Bilicki took to social media to vent his frustrations. If not for the stage 2 incident, the 28-year-old could have finished in the top 20.

On Twitter, Josh Bilicki mentioned yet again how frustrated he was that the no. 7 car “dumped” them. However, he acknowledged his team for a job well done on a less-than-ideal day for the team.
“Don’t even know what to say…just frustrated and disappointed. Feel like we’ve got a target on our back this year,” he said.

“We had a great car and worked our way up to 16th by the end of stage two before the 7 car dumped us as we exited pit road. It set us back a lap and killed all of our track position. We eventually got our lap back late in the race and battled to a P26 finish,” Bilicki added.
At the end of the day, the whole event left a sour taste in Josh Bilicki’s mouth. It could have been a memorable day for the #78 driver, but it was just not meant to be.
