NASCAR is going to space, to the moon. But not in the way you’d imagine. There won’t be a 500 mile race on the lunar surface with Next Gen cars. No. However, Leidos, a Fortune 500 science and technology company that sponsors Bubba Wallace, has teamed up with NASCAR for a promotional partnership for the moon race.

Or to be more precise, a lunar rover race.

As per NASCAR, “The partnership will be a collaboration between two organizations in the areas of speed, safety and reliability.”

CEO of the $12.69 billion worth company, Roger Krone shares his thrill and excitement about partnering with NASCAR to design their own lunar vehicle, which will be a “groundbreaking collaboration” between the two parties into an “uncharted territory.”

“We aim to pave the way for human exploration of space and inspire the next generation of engineers, scientists and innovators to reach for the stars,” he added.

Partnership with Leidos “couldn’t make more sense” for NASCAR

In a press-release, NASCAR’s senior vice president and chief marketing officer Pete Jung emphasized on the absolute sensibility of the collaboration with Leidos. “NASCAR partnering with Leidos couldn’t make more sense when it comes to this vehicle,” he said.

Jung claimed that both companies are known for “exciting innovations” in their distinctive fields and this partnership would bring those two fields together that otherwise wouldn’t have happened.

“We are eager to watch this uniquely designed rover traverse different areas of the lunar surface,” Jung added.
