It’s not uncommon to slip up here and there while giving an interview. Joe Gibbs Racing’s Christopher Bell and his not-so-tiny slip-up during a post-race interview in Iowa Speedway all but cemented the belief, causing an avalanche of tweets, posts, and memes to circulate in the driver’s name. Not the attention most celebrities are looking for. But, all PR is good PR, right?
With a rush of adrenaline, Christopher Bell spilled the beans on who will be joining him and the crew soon! Mentioning a “Chase” to be Martin Truex Jr’s replacement in his #19 Toyota. This is great news for everyone, but for a certain Joe Gibbs, who was yet to make an official announcement.
It seems that during a driver’s meeting, Elton Sawyer, NASCAR’s VP, commenced the session with a nudge at Christopher by asking if he had any announcements he’d like to make. This would have stayed within the conference room, had journalist-cum-insider Bob Pockrass not taken to his X profile to address the moment.

It has been uncovered that the new driver would be a certain ‘Chase,’ but the lack of a last name gave way too many Chases to take the lead. Fans suspected (and humored) that it was Hendrik Motorsport Racing’s Chase Elliott, which in turn, was a joke initiated by Kyle Larson. As expected, fans and netizens were quick to chime in.

Bell’s slip-up becomes a moment in meme history
Fans of the JGR driver were also amused by his mistake and shared their piece of mind about the situation. One user on X responded to Pockrass’s tweet saying, “ This is more PR than they would have got. Bell deserves a slice.” The spoilers of this fashion do tend to get a lot of traction, so it’s not entirely incorrect.
While Bell is given a moment to fully reel in his mishap, another fan conveyed his enthusiasm for the new meme content, saying, “I love that they’re all roasting him but like in the nicest way possible.” Which is true. This could have gone in a lot of ways for the NASCAR driver, considering the weight of the news.

Another fan was quick to state the obvious, saying, “Wrong Chase.” Well, that’s news! For someone living under a rock. The emotion was reiterated in another comment, stating, “Nice try @KyleLarsonRacin… we all know which Chase. Lol.” Nice try, indeed, Kyle Larson.
The community has its silly moments, and this one just made it to the top of the list! While everyone recovers from their moment of jest, all eyes are now set on the path to the playoffs. The world awaits to see if Bell can come back with a performance so good, it makes people forget his goof-up!
