Following Sunday’s race at the WWT Raceway, the Ross Chastain and Denny Hamlin squabble was all that anyone could talk about. Chastain made a nuisance of himself and annoyed many drivers with his antics. None were more furious than Denny Hamlin, who decided to get his revenge. In light of the race, NASCAR senior vice president Scott Miller talked about the matter.
Miller said, “We don’t like to see things like that. There’s a certain amount of, we kind of have to let them handle it on their own somewhat. What we saw, we were annoyed by it. There was no real contact. They tried to make life miserable for us. We all witnessed that. At least we didn’t see a blatant take out or anything like that.”

“It was obvious from Ross’ post-race comments that he’s made some mistakes out there and wants to make it right. It’s kind of up to those guys to sort it out and move forward from there. We’ll obviously keep a close eye on them as we do in all these situations.”

According to Miller, they may try to get the two together to hash things out face-to-face. In fact, there is generally a debrief that takes place two days after the race has concluded. Obviously, the officials will meet up and discuss the situation and what actions to take.
It is worth mentioning that they have not reached out to either Hamlin or Chastain. Instead, they are content with letting the matter blow over and then talking to them away from the track.
