Throughout the history of motorsport, when the most successful drivers retire, seldom do they seem to leave the eyes of the media. Whether it’s Jenson Button, Damon Hill, and other such F1 legends transitioning to a media role for Sky Sports, or our favorite NASCAR drivers putting on their analyst caps at NBC Sports. These icons are always up to a new adventure behind the scenes of the sport they once dominated.

And for Dale Earnhardt Jr, that’s exactly the route life has taken him after the glorious Cup Series days. From his role as an NBC Analyst to the start of Dirty Mo Media, there’s a lot that Junior has been up to when we talk about NASCAR content. So with the new year upon us and the Dale Jr Download returning for another much-awaited season, it was only the right time for a studio makeover!

Only a few years ago, Dale Earnhardt Jr and the well-known fast-food chain, Bojangles, embarked on a partnership that gave the brand naming rights to the studio in which the Dale Jr Download and Door Bumper Clear podcasts were going to be produced. But now that a new season is upon us, a few changes were needed to spice things up for the Dale Jr Download studio.

Whilst the Door Bumper Clear studio remained relatively the same as the previous season, the latest episode of the Download gave fans insight into what the team had planned over the winter break.

Earnhardt Jr shared in the podcast, “So we got a new studio, and so the guests will obviously sit in this chair here. If I have a friend or Amy might come next week or something like that, we’ll sit then right there and we got a little screen, we can put up anything we want on there.” Now that there were a few new additions to the studio, Earnhardt Jr. also revealed that the crew had reorganized most of the old items as well.

Adding to that, the crew also got a new design on the wall inspired by Earnhardt Jr.’s truck. He added, “And so there you see Dalton and Andrew at their table. They’re right here in front of me, so I can give them a hard time about anything they say. So we’re gonna have a lot of fun.” Junior also replied to Dirty Mo Media’s tweet about the makeover, adding an interesting piece of history about the new location.

When Earnhardt Jr. asked everyone if they were happy with the final result, the answers were evidently filled with positive reactions. For a man labeled by Forbes as a “Media Mogul”, Earnhardt Jr is certainly pulling out all the stops to ensure the content fans get keeps getting better and better. However, as for Junior’s future as an analyst, the community might have to hold on to their breath for a while longer.

Every year, if there’s any kind of analysis that fans look forward to the most, it certainly is the NBC and the USA Network’s analysis of the Cup Series and Xfinity Series that begins in June. But to the dismay of many who have gotten used to seeing Junior in the booth, the Dirty Mo Media head does not have a contract with NBC in place as of now.

Speaking on the Download, Junior was quoted by JAYSKI’s, “My contract with NBC is up. It was up at the end of last year. I’m currently working through what that looks like for me. I definitely love being in the broadcast booth and want to continue doing that. We’ve had some great conversations with all of NASCAR’s TV partners. My home and my love is at NBC and I’d love to be back with them so we’ll see where it goes. But right now, I really don’t have a job in terms of broadcasting.”
