Although most of the silly season business had already been concluded for the 2025 Cup Series season, there was no clarity about Rick Ware Racing’s full-time driver. This can have huge repercussions for former Spire Motorsports driver Corey LaJoie after he drove their No. 51 Ford Mustang for the final seven races of the season; thanks to a mid-season split deal. However, reports suggest Cody Ware is being considered for the full-time role in 2025, which means that LaJoie would have to step down to the Xfinity or Truck Series. Or he could just compete on a part-time basis. But what if the driver has other plans?
If we are to go by the rumor mills, he could be opting for a part-time feature along with broadcasting duties with streaming giant Amazon Prime.
A fan page by the name ‘nascarrumornostalgia’ posted on Instagram: “Word on the street (at least my street) is that Lajoie might have some part-time rides, along with some sort of analyst role with Amazon #NASCAR #CoreyLajoie.” Now it is unclear whether this part-time ride will be with Spire Motorsports or Rick Ware Racing.

We will have to wait for an official confirmation, either from the driver or the team involved in this deal. But here’s the thing:
NASCAR fans need to take this with a pinch of salt. While the rumor may not have direct implications for the 2025 driver lineups, it could impact the NASCAR booth for Prime Video. After all, the streaming platform is NASCAR’s new TV partner for 2025 and they have already declared that Adam Alexander, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and Steve Letarte will form their broadcasting team.
Sure, LaJoie has the personality and knowledge for the job, but since the booth is already full, perhaps his rumored role could be something outside that of an analyst. Well, all we have to do is wait and watch if the rumors are true. With Daytona inching closer, fans will soon come to know the veracity of these claims.

LaJoie was once seen as the prospect who could lead the flagship team, the No. 7 car at Spire Motorsports. But with the lack of solid runs and no considerable progress over four full-time runs, the higher-ups at Spire decided to put their faith in Justin Haley. Out of the blue, they inked a contract with RWR in a swap deal, thus offloading LaJoie and bringing in Haley. This was a bitter blow to LaJoie’s plans to return to Cup racing in 2025.
Now RWR needs to make its decision for the 2025 season. There was a possibility that the team could prepare a ride for LaJoie if he brought the sponsors, but with RFK Racing leasing out one of the charters from RWR, it was the final nail in the coffin to execute such a plan. Cody Ware has piloted the No. 51 car for two full-time runs in the past, which puts him ahead of LaJoie.
Considering that Corey LaJoie’s performance on track hasn’t been something to rave about, he was going to be second fiddle at RWR. Not to forget, he won’t get the similar treatment he received from the Chevy team now that he has switched to Ford. In all fairness, if this rumor does turn out to be true, he will be in a better place. And he might have hinted about this well in advance…
Could Corey LaJoie really be heading into his new role?
While Corey LaJoie has good years of racing left in him, he does have talents that could help him shine in front of the NASCAR audience as an analyst. The driver was regularly featured on the Stacking Pennies podcast, where he better resonated with the NASCAR community through his content over racing.
Even the fans liked to see him in this role, and this is where he first shared hints of him switching to the media side of things. What did he say?

In November 2024, he stated, “I have so many cool opportunities behind the wheel, but also not behind the wheel, to take into consideration of the next chapter of life.”
This was his response after his exit from Spire Motorsports in 2024. NASCAR drivers switching to broadcasting roles isn’t something new. We have seen the likes of Dale Jr., Tony Stewart, Clint Bowyer, and Kevin Harvick switch lanes after bidding goodbye to competitive racing.
Well, he certainly can build a new platform for himself and can be the voice of new partner NASCAR Prime Video. However, we will have to wait for an official confirmation and also know more about his part-time run for 2025.
